He came very close on one run into the box which needed a good challenge and a lucky (for us) bounce to get clear and he had a few interesting wrestling matches with Greer which might have gone against us on another day so not a bad contribution and Blues fans after the game seemed to think (rightly in my opinion) that Hughton was wrong to sub him off. He has lost a bit of weight and gained a bit of pace since last year and his confidence is high. But hey...... we've got Paynter and I am pretty happy with that after his cameo today

I think you've got to credit our defence, especially Greer and Calde, who know Wood from last season, and when he's likely to turn, pass or shoot. They covered him well and didn't give him a chance so therefore he looked ineffective.
