Can't agree with that. Name me another 15 goal Champ striker aged under say, 23, that we could easily buy for £1m.

Name me one that has only scored 5 this season and has 6 months on his contract that would cost 1m.

He's not signed yet. Why? Him or us? If he doesn't sign, there's nothing in it for the Albion in the summer...so let him go and if CMS and Hosk aren't up for it...lets use the Barnes dosh for someone who we can cement to us for at least a cuppla years. I'll miss Barnes but biz is biz!

We have 5 strikers, ones on lone and three have been injured (with only Ulloa coming back before the window opens). Barnes is also in form, why would we want him to go? He seems happy playing for us too.

Technically you are correct we do have 5 but I dont think that Hoskins will play for us again, I think he will be sold or let go when he is fit and we have done our duty towards him.

You'll be disappointed.

I like Barnes, and the way that he's got on with it this year after his disciplinary problems last year is admirable. However, when you can buy foreign strikers like Ulloa for 2m, I can't see anyone paying that sort of cash for Barnes.

We were very very lucky with Ulloa,if strikers like him wete ten a penny on the continent every club would have one. Barnes is one of the best, if not the best, 24 year old striker in our division, Ings has been good, but he has only been good for half a season, he could fade from here on in

I know they have reams of pound notes surrounding them weekly, but it seems difficult to be in this bumper midsection of contractual hierarchy for a club hellbent on promotion. Longer contracts are such a rarety and we gamble with the idea of a player so determined to find permanent work for next season being on a blistering run and being nabbed from us for nothing. There's little point picking up £200k for a player who seems bang in form though, but you want the players on the pitch not so much thinking of elsewhere and sticking to the tasks they're set. It has to be difficult to manage player involvement, as well as commitment, whilst refusing to offer them security. Ideally we'll have a set of confident lads settled enough to not think beyond where they are. Saying that, the Koosh seems to be out and about advertising himself, but at the same time he's the sort of obsessive type who has nightmares over blunders, so i don't doubt him at present.
Barnes is a great allround team player who is needed in our squad overall. His pluck and determination and positioning in both attack and defending corners is second to none.

Sam Vokes is a similar age isn't he? What did Burnley pay for him?

I suspect he will be, but that depends if the club think he'll sign a new deal or not.

I hope the club are not going to leave the contract offers for all the running down ones until we know what division we are in next year. Although I'd understand if they do.

I'd like Barnes to stay regardless personally.

Brighton factually.....
We could keep him, let him run his contract out and Palace could sign him on a free when they come back down to the Championship.....

Nah that would never happen.....

Would it.....

Why!.......... Would the Club want or need to let him go. Why, would he want to go anywhere else, he has such a supportive group of supporters here.

Since he was under 24 at the start of the year, would we still be due compensation if he leaves at the end of his contract?

For the EIGHTH time - we don't need to sell!! When you don't need to sell, the price you ask is higher. I'm talking about the money we'd need to replace him if we DID have to sell, not how much we'd sell him for in a world where we don't need to sell him, and would be bloody stupid to.
