Wilkins - Last night was a "good performance"

Wilkins said: "I thought it was a good performance, particularly in the first half. We played some really good football up to the final third but then lacked a bit of quality.

FFS what planet is he on at the moment.:thud::thud:

It is worrying what he classes as a good performace, I remember being at oldham...granted we only had ten men and did well to nck an underserved draw...but wilkins said "it was one of the best performances ive seen from the lads"

we were awwwwful..

High standards from wilko then!!!!

I like it when our manager says things like this, it shows that he is aware of our limited capabilities and makes me believe he will keep us in this division for the foreseeable.

0-0 at home to Tranmere? Yeah, why not, well done boys.

We did, didn't we? But lacked the final killer pass and finish.

Bowditch and Cox did reasonably well in the first half, Thomson and El-Abd battled well and the defence looked solid.

I would imagine that it is better to show encouragement, than lambast the team. ???

I am sure it is very easy to lose the plot after the Cheltenham debacle, but we put a stop to the rot and drew with an in form play off candidate in the form of Tranmere.

NO!

The manager should have said it was poor and boring and that our strikers played badly.

I would have thought you'd know this by now.

surely saying we were crap in the final third contradicts the subs he made and the time he made them

Usual comments.

Think the 4,700 odd know what they saw

Each one of them knows what they saw, but judging by the comments on here not all 4,700 saw the same thing. That's football.

Some genuinely believe it was a very poor performance. I respect that but don't agree with it. It wasn't great, but then neither were Tranmere. It happens.
I've seen much worse from us many times.

Some saw what they wanted to see to serve their agenda.. That I don't respect.

Quite right. Perhaps, I shall loiter by the dugouts next game and hurl abuse at the players for 90 minutes. That is sure to help.

The final third, as in on the edge of their penalty area, I think.

We're about where we should be in the table with squad we have. Just maybe Wilkins is starting to realise that too now.

I agree. It wasn't a bad performance, but I wouldn't call it good either. Obviously, most of our support felt we should have won comfortably - I'm not sure why.

With the greatest will in the world, do we not have a right to EXPECT to win home games? I fully accept that nobody ever does win ALL their home games, but there should be a right to expect to win at home.

.

Encouragement is a key aspect as a manager/coach. Yes there needs to be a certain amount of honesty and generally speaking I think DW is honest in his assessments.

It could have been an awful lot worse and in places it was a good performance against a team who were no mugs.

It was complete and utter toilet. If people genuinely think anything else it just goes to show how low expectations have reached

I could not disagree more. We don't have a right to expect anything. Hope certainly, but expect, no.

What gives us that right? In most seasons there will be clubs better than us in our division. How can you expect to beat them?

I'm sorry, I don't like to overly criticise anyone on here, but that comment was simply ludicrous.

Depends who you're playing. Tranmere beat Millwall and Leeds away (both to nil) before coming to us and haven't lost in 6 now.
