As El Presidente has mentioned in another thread that Wilkins position was untenable due to his ILLNESS etc etc...........does anyone else have further information regarding this....?

Given the poor team management at present, and most people,s confusion as to why Wilkins was fired, wouldn,t clarification from the board help avoid the divisiveness between the supporters at these troubled times...?

Is it true.....?...........or is this just another "spin" story from the in-crowd...?

I find it strange with all the managerial casualties so far this year that Deano has not popped up anywhere else. Perhaps El Pres has hit the nail on the head.

he was ill a lot, and even on the sunniest of sunny days towards the end of the season he was in huge coats, and didnt look right in press conferences.

Rumour was he didnt take a training session from the Mansfield game through to the end of the season........

I'm not so sure about any illness, sounds a bit like spin to me, but like everyone else I have no real idea.

But I hope DK isn't going to do what happened to Gary Megson, where a former chairman spread a lot of unfair stuff about him and effectively put a load of other clubs off and left the guy out of work for a long time.

Fair enough, it hasn't worked out with us for whatever reason, and Wilkins may have contributed to his own downfall, even been unprofessional in some of his dealings.

But the guy deserves to work again, it's his living. And particularly at the moment, his reputation as a coach is looking OK by comparison.

The fact that the players didn't like him is not, on its own, much of a guide. Invariably a manager they all love is a weak fool.

I agree that it is strange that he hasn't been linked to any jobs so far this season. I thought that we might have seen his name in the frame for jobs like Grimsby and Bournemouth.

Did he become horribly disfigured after a terrible accident ? because he is never spotted out anymore.
Does he now live in an underground chamber in the bowels of the earth below Withdean.

I see Dean Wilkins regularly in the pub having a meal with his family and friends. He always looks happy and cheery and he is always friendly if I meet him up at the bar. He will always have a chat about football although he is obviously careful about what he says.

The way he is has remained the same even whilst he was under pressure as manager and when he was in limbo after Adams was appointed. And I have never seen him buy anything other than soft drinks.

So this story is a load of bollocks.
