Been mentioned in another thread but felt it deserved its own.

Sunderland striker Connor Wickham has been recalled from his loan spell with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

The England Under 21 striker has done well at Wednesday scoring eight goals in 11 games but leaves Hillsbrough after Gus Poyet exercised the 24-hour clause in his loan.

Wickham's loan was due to end following Tuesday's match at Millwall and new

Wednesday manager Stuart Gray was keen to extend that beyond January.

The 20-year-old could now feature for Sunderland when they host Stoke in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

Quick scan of the Wednesday forum and they seem to think an offer has been accepted for him from someone else; they also seem universally gutted to be losing him. Could of course be that Poyet wants him in his side but I'm not convinced...

Forest. Who would have thought they wanted another striker. Suppose if 9 get injured then they may need him

To add fuel to the flames - Wickham was unable to play for Wednesday this weekend, so Sunderland could have recalled him to play against Kidderminster in order for him to get used to their system, chance to bag a few goals, boost confidence etc. Instead they've recalled him now - might suggest something has happened behind the scenes?

I think he's on his way to someone, just a case of who.

Connor Wickham would be a massive statement of intent IMO. Not sure how he would play with Ulloa is the only thing, as it would seem a lot of money for someone who is going to be second choice? So not happening or there is an big offer for Ulloa from someone?

My money is on nothing to do with us...

Still a strong chance Gus will come for Ulloa yet...

No, there's a small chance Gus will come for Ulloa, and pretty much zero chance we'd sell unless the fee is very silly.

Part ex Wickham for Ulloa ?

Can seriously see him being used in a deal for one/two of our players as it would be incredibly hard to say no.

8 goals in 11 for Wednesday :lolol: is a great record in the Championship - we should really make a move !!

I would've thought, given his wages probably being fairly high as well as any potential fee, he'll be off to either Forest or QPR. We all know they couldn't give a flying f*ck about FFP.
