I like the Italian way of life.

The history, the architecture, the art and of course my favourite painters and composers ( verdi Puccini)

All in all I love the place and if I had the money I would certainly retire to Tuscany

My wife. She has her moments and don't cross her or criticise her cooking but does the trick for me. No, I don't have any pics of her doing the trick.

What I like about the Italians is that none of them take the concept of "Italy" very seriously.

Quite right too. There really is no such place - just a loose assembly of places with their own history, culture, food, politics and language.

Granny Weatherwax fancies living in Tuscany. So do I (and have done so). In my bit of Tuscany, though, the first thing you learn is that the thieving, tyrannical Florentines can't be trusted.

“Gloria a te, Montalcino, onde un senese
superstite drappello, ancor quattr’anni,
oppose alla mitraglia dei tiranni
la Repubblica sua percossa a morte”

Tuscany in July and August sucks unless you like crowds, way too many tourists

My wife and her family are from Liguria (The Cinque Terra) and they LOATH southern Italians. They also were ALL partisans during WWII and still LOATH the Germans.

So a loose affiliation of like minded lazy wops who'd prefer to sleep and party than do a decent 9-5 for a living, see a problem with that?
