I think it’s mainly because we’ve been engrained as Albion fans to expect that things will go remarkably badly as soon as we expect anything better. Gloating threads about Palace would inevitably result in a defeat at SP.
Time to be bold like de zerbi. Even if we lose to them in a few weeks we are so much better than them on every level it doesn't really matter. They are years behind us now.

These threads always bite you on the arse. Too late, so why not join in?
  • Beaky's boardroom appears disharmonious.
  • An acceptable starting 11 but they can't cope with injuries and suspensions. The squad is not deep enough.
  • Paddy V struggling?
  • Fans fighting, that's really grim.
Its enough to make Dibley piss his pants.

They'll win their cup final against us mind.

Can't wait for this thread to be bounced by our resident Palace goons the very second after they shithouse another win over us.
This was why the OP stated the thread.

If we beat Palace the OP will be frothing with silence and spending all his spare time shopping on Amazon.

It's a weird sort of self-loathing that makes me feel uncomfortable.

Because football can change so quickly and you can end up eating humble pie.
Part of the fun of football is taking the piss out of rivals surely !!! I think most fans can agree on that one. Palace have had bragging rights for way too long. Time for our moment in the sun. I'm sure you're right in may change quickly but let's enjoy it while it lasts.

I don't know if I'm getting old, but I really don't care about what Palace do. As long as they stay below Albion in the table.

In real terms, I respect Palace the club. Their supporters could have buggered off an supported yer Arsenals and Chelseas. But they support their local team. I'll go and wash my hands now.

It's all pantomime.
This!! In every respect :)

What is more exciting... fighting to rise above 15th place to get to 14th or beating your rivals? Probably beating the rivals... What is more exciting, fighting to get into a European cup or beating the rival? I'd assume most here would take a loss against CP and finishing 7th rather than a win against CP and finishing 9th, meaning they sort of stray out of relevancy.

Tbh I think they are on the right way. Yes, some poor results but they generally play ok football these days, their results have been fine this season and they have a number of great talents like Mitchell / Guehi / Eze / Olise. Quite clear they've been looking at Brighton and thinking "we need to be like them".

That said, same thing remains true for them now as has been the case for many years... they're one serious Zaha injury away from a difficult relegation battle.

During the World Cup I glanced at their fixtures and thought they had to win their last game against Fulham and the next one against Bournemouth away.

After that they have

Jan - Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle
Feb - Man U, Us, Brentford away , Liverpool
Mar - Villa away, Man C, Arsenal.

That's a terrible run of fixtures and by April 1st they could be in the bottom 3.

So, is this thread...

- the Palace piss-taking thread, or
- the thread debating whether we should have a Palace piss-taking thread

If it's the latter, when will a consensus be reached and, if the consensus is we should have one, who is starting it?

Asking for a friend.

Reading that thread about trouble in the HF end against Fulham.

What is this current trend of lads( and I have seen references to it here many times) taking coke at matches?

last home game I had just got my old age pensioner cup of coffee and was wandering into the gents in the NS when a couple of yoofs bashed me out of the way and on looking at them, they were well out of it. One of them wiping his nose …although they could have been high on benylin of course!

that thread reports some palace fans racially abusing some of the HF fans…..

strange times

Palace will be fine this season. They’ve already got half the number of points required to stay up, and although he’s inconsistent Zaha still has the ability to run defences ragged and win them games. Even if he only does that once every 4-5 games they’ll accumulate enough points to see them safe.

He is however 30 years old and in the final season of his contract. They will struggle next season if he leaves on a free this summer.

Our friend @Dougie is on there, complete with his silly sausage counter sign off.

Good to know he's alive. I thought from his absence from NSC he'd wanked himself into a coma when he stumbled across Simon Jordan on TalkSport.

I'm probably in the minority, but they are just another team to me. I'd take no more pleasure beating Palace than I would, say, Wolves.

No piss taking here.

They are just 5 points behind us.

2 games and it could be so different.
This

For me I'd like to see RDZ get in on the act and cement his place as a legend having already tonked Chelsea and Stains.

remember the lighthouse keeper never gave a shit and we haven't beaten Palace since sir Chris was in charge.

This is bang on the money. When we play them I always want to us to not only destroy them, but to humiliate them too.

BUT….give me Palace ANY DAY over the pompous, self serving, elite Uber plastic clubs who run the PL.

The level of entitlement among supporters at City and Chelsea etc is just sickening.

Long live authentic rivalries like Albion v Palace. You won’t miss them until they’re gone….
