Not everyone has the internet, even if one fan that can't book on-line gets a ticket its better than none.

Internet cafes, friends etc etc, anyway, the ones who can not get ANY access on the internet........wont be the ones debating this subject anyway :lolol:

Do the argus still sell tickets at there shop?

Or how about the garage new the brewery tap or even the preston park hotel be able to seel tickets? Ideally if the club could find somewhere near withdean that can sell tickets up until 3:10 then it could help shift some tickets? Or wouldn't that be allowed by all the rules surrounding withdean

I do see your point ken, i still think that people that want to see an event should ensure they book the tickets in advance, nearly all events are well advertised up front, giving plenty of time for the individual to make an application by normal methods, im well aware there are situations that make it a possible reason as to wanting a ticket at the last minute, but in my opinion thats going to be a minority, lets say they kept a supply of tickets at the brewery tap, loads of people would think then that all thy have to do is turn up there at 2.45 and get a ticket, i dont think it would really work in all reality.

OK, we can work out for the club just how many lines they need at busy times. All we need are estimates for the following:
approximate number of callers per hour (matchday tickets and other enquiries); average time someone will hold without hanging up; total capacity of the system; average time to process each type of call.

I always buy in advance myself aswell, even tho the away game isn't going to sell out. Mainly because if i'm going to go then i might aswell have the ticket in my pocket and also like scunthorpe earlier this year i ended up spending a little extra in the pub before hand so had a bit of hassel trying to get enough cash to beable to pay to get in. In the end i went to their ticket office and paid by card.

Hopefully the club are looking at every aspect in trying to get the gound sold out, time will tell if the new ad campagin will work but the club can't dismiss the floating fans that decided around 2pm that they fancy seeing a match

They can. There's an internet place at Preston circus and the online booking is open until 2.30pm.

Just enough time to walk to Withdean.

Don't see why every daft f*** has to wait til the Saturday to decide to buy a ticket anyway. What's wrong with phoning up on, say, the Thursday?

What about back in the day when you could wake up on a Saturday morning, look out the window and say to yourself "I fancy going to the Goldstone today"?

Did that make you a "daft f***", or just someone who liked to decide on the day whether or not to do something?

Well sometimes in the Goldstone days I used to decide at half-two to go or not. As it should be. So good point well made.

But so far as I can see, the ticket office's very limited resources on Saturday were besieged by the likes of Lord B, The Large One and Yorkie.

Not that I would ever stoop so low as to call any of these esteemed parties 'daft fucks'

Those were far better days but football supporting has changed now and more advanced planning is required. I dont like it but's thats the way it is.

Maybe we've stumbled upon one way of improving the system by way of this thread; maybe the Saturday morning phonelines should be reserved strictly for those people requiring tickets for that day's game (Press '1' for tickets for today's game, press '2' and be held in a queue for tickets for future matches) Which is surely the whole point of having the phone lines available. And why do the phones have to be physically located in the ticket office anyway? They could be anywhere on the planet. Maybe install some phone lines in the ticket collection both at Withdean? How much would that cost? Not a huge amount, I'd have thought.

Just need to keep chipping away at the club, chucking half-decent ideas in their general direction, free of charge.

but who is the loser ? the club for the loss of revenue or the individual who wants to see the game ? (or concert, whatever) my only point is, if you really want to see something, you make great efforts to get a ticket, for example, i am a massive Rolling Stones fan and throughout the years i have never gotton to see them live, (many good reasons why) but late in 05 it was announced that they would be playing the Millenium stadium (local to me) in August 06, so on Jan 9th last year iwas sat here at 9.00am waiting for the tickets to go on public sale, and i got the 2 tickets i wanted, we went on August 29th last year and it was brilliant, my only point is i got what I wanted because i went out of my way to get it..........many debates to this subject im sure, but my moral is, if you want a ticket for something, go out of your way to make sure you get it, invariably you will get what you want......(STH wanting West ham away tickets exempt from that comment :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: )

Fair point (as well as a nice little story...!), but the difference is massive between the two events. The Stones don't need to do much to sell tickets and if you didn't get your act together, you would've missed out, but BHA are desperate to get people through the turnstiles and should be making it as easy as possible for people to get tickets. To there credit, some of the initiatives to get people in are excellent, but what is the point if people have to climb the metaphorical equivalent of Everest to get their hands on these tickets.

Safeway is right on the money when he says that people wake up and decide that they want to go to football. At the Goldstone it was easy to just turn up. With the constraints of Withdean, it is not possible to do that, so the club should be doing EVERYTHING it can to increase ticket revenue and I don't believe it is.

It would be very easy to divert the calls into a larger office, any office within the club to deal with phone enquiries. This would mean that the ticket office can deal with more personal callers, so a very simple double whammy.

a query on ATC got this, when asking if they ever considered getting a bigger shop..

' We have a lease in Queens Road, and it has always been able to cope. '

Just needs a couple more manned phone lines. Ridiculous expecting the same two people who are serving the ticket-buying personal-caller customers in the ticket office to answer the phone as well. It's not only the cheap option, it's the twattwattwattwat option :shootself
