Why is the Ticket Office telling me it is CLOSED?

I've just phoned the Albion Ticketline (01273-776992), only to get through to a recorded announcement that "the ticket office is now closed ... opening hours are ... Saturday, 10 'til 1".

Does this football club want people to go to matches?

I managed to get through and book some tickets for Rotherham about 20 mins ago.

Had to wait for ages though, being told that my call was in a queue about 15 times.

They have to have the phone off the hook when they're dealing with customers face-to-face. And there were a lot of customers in there this morning. I know. I was there.
But that's no excuse for telling callers that they are closed.

Am I missing something? (Apart from most of my soul and regular sex?)

So when they can't answer the phone for a while, everyone who calls is told the office is shut?

Pathetic excuse TLO, employ more people then

Why "have the phone off the hook"? If customers want to spend £23.50 on a product with a marginal cost to the supplier of NIL, it doesn't make sense to turn them away, because there aren't enough staff on duty.

If they have lost, say, 50 sales this morning, that's income of over a thousand pounds gone AWOL.

Well, I DON'T KNOW. Perhaps the engaged tone just reverts to the pre-recorded message. I was only telling you that it was good to see the Ticket Office busy. Besides, if you're a Brighton fan who regularly buys tickets on a Saturday, you'll know that that information is wrong. Blimey.

I cant see why the club cant have a bigger ticketing office. 2-3 people to deal with face to face queries and a few people to deal with phone calls, will make life so much easier.

Once Falmer comes along, they will have to do something about the ticket because I doubt it will be able to cope with 15,000 tickets a week, especially if it cant deal with a few thousand a week.

I know the ticket office staff have one of the most thankless jobs going BUT....the organisation seems to be letting them down as badly as it is the punters.

Because yes, they will have the conflicting demands of face to face customers and phones - especially on home matchdays - but surely there's a way round this that doesn't involve switching to a recorded message that says something that's just plain wrong.

Luckily we bought an extra ticket yesterday but had we waited until this morning would have taken the recorded message at face value and just told Miss Bracknell that she wouldn't be going to the game today.

And OK, that would only be £23.50 lost but how much per hour would it cost to bring extra staff in on a casual basis? Not very many £23.50s I suspect.

Speaks volumes for this club when the phone machine says the Ticket Office is shut.

I really do wonder what goes through the minds of our commercial department.

They don't have the room / facilities / capabilities to cater for more staff without a complete overhaul of that section. There's only two terminals in there. Until that happens, it's always going to be like this.

But why post the gripe on here? Why not let Ian Green or Kevin Keehan know and get them to change the message? What can NSC do about it?

Why not raise the matter quietly behind the scenes? Well, for starters, just because I can do just that doesn't mean it's the most appropriate way to air the issue at the outset.

For starters, what if this was a one-off problem that nobody else had experienced? Why bother Kevin about it?

And secondly, NSC exists to raise stuff about the club even if that may be in the role of a "critical friend."
