Why is the Costa bus so expensive?

So now we're arguing about the METHODS people use to get to away games and certain people are insulting other people because they don't approve of the METHODS those other people use.

It's now acceptable to CRITICISE people for how they get to away games, then.

How about CRITICISING people who don't go to away games at all instead of the people that go by coach.

Fabulous.

I don't think it is expensive, what are you comparing it to?

Liz does the job out of the good of her heart, she does it on a non profit basis and fair play to her for that.

They probably budget on 30 people being on the coach each match, and sometimes make a profit, which covers the losses on other matches where there is poor takeup.

If you look at the costs to Liz, then £35 to Walsall isn't excessive, the coach is booked out for a day irrespective of the journey time, the driver has to be paid, fuel costs, and a crane has to be booked at both ends of the journey to lift Sarah Watts into and out of the coach itself.

My thoughts exactly. Who cares how some Albion fans get to games? You'll find some of the most dedicated Albion supporters on the Costa Express, and judging people for taking a coach instead of a train/car is pretty sad!

No let's not, everyone's got their own story as to why they don't go to many away games with out having to justify it on here.

I agree with you. But if some people are going to criticise others for going to away games by coach then it's just got stupid. Go by train then, for goodness sake.

tell him he's right someone FFS

.
he is right , to get the cheap fares you have to book in advance , unfortunately there are no bargain fares atm either via national rail enquiries or national express who hold the franchise for part of the journey.

I think the point of this thread was concerning the cost of the coaches.

I don't travel by coach - and would not wish to - but I am sure some people prefer it. I guess it serves a purpose for evening games if you can't get anyone to drive.

But some of the prices are ludicrous. Perhaps Liz Costa makes profit, perhaps money goes to the Supporters Club, maybe coaches are just expensive.

But compared to trains (being organised and not taking the first fare that flashes up on the National Rail site) and cars, coaches are a rip off.

Do you still get your coach fare for half price if you win the wordsearch?

The advantage of going by coach is only taking one days holiday for a long haul midweek match that if you went by train means booking into B&B and returning the next day. The coach might get back at 4 or 5 am but you're still able to get into work.

I think I've met more weirdos going to Albion matches on the train than I have on the coach!

Cheapest Train fare (brighton to Hartlepool and back on the same day) would have been jut over £120

Not at all. If you buy the tickets from Brighton to Kings Cross X , you can get it for about £15, going FCC route. Then, from there, if booked in advanced you can get a DIRECT Grand Central train from London Kings X for about £30 return, so I make that £45. It only cost me and my mate £70 to get to Sunderland, and that`s 20 minutes further.

Organisation is key.:cool::thumbsup::wave:

Liz Costa is a legend. So what if she inadvertantly ends up with surplus from the coaches? It'll all go back to the supporters club anyway.

I suggest you all go and ask her about the prices to her face. She's tougher than Kuipers after you've hit him round the face with a flannel. Love the Liz. I probably wouldn't have been an Albion fan if it wasn't for her - my mum wouldn't let me go on my own, so Liz looked after me on the coach. We had some checkered times in the years that followed - relentlessly taking the piss out of the lads from Burgess Hill and sitting on someone's birthday cake which was on one of the seats coming back from an away game drunk spring to mind - but she saved my life a few times when I had no other way of getting back from away games as a teenager. Unfortunately the round trip to Hartlepool a few years back was the final straw in boredom for me, but she is an Albion hero.

But I might decide the day before to go?
