from what we could glean, bertin wanted to wait till he had a better offer and we told him to fuckofski, currie was offered a chance to come back and chose 1. millwall and then Luton over us, and thirdly harding wanted to wait for a better offer and got one.

So why do we not hate all of them equally?

***Sorry meant harding*****

From what I could glean from that post, I think the difference is that Currie didn't piss about in letting us know his intentions. And he wasn't really 'ours' at the time anyway.

Bertin and Harding kept us dangling for quite a while. Some people might take that as feeling as though we were being 'used' as a shop window, and not a great deal more.

Personally, I don't despise Harding - I just didn't rate him.

Fair point David. Harding was just plain rude to the club that had brought him through the youth and given him his chance. Going AWOL while his agent engineered a move away was not only disrespectful but stupid. Had he kept in touch with McGhee he could have had Celtic or Rangers in the bidding war for him which could only have been good for him, regardless of where he actually ended up going.
Can't see much difference between the Bertin and Currie situations though. Both are (quite rightly) looking after themselves. I would happily have either back, although we have less need for a Bertin type player at the moment. Harding can f*** off though.

i think when ocallahan goes, then Bertin is that player required.

I think for whatever reason he has burnt his bridges with uncle Dick so hopefully we can hold on to O'Call. Don't fancy our chances on a long term deal though.

Sod uncle dick...its not his club!!!

Its wilkins who should have a say who comes in, and if we lose OCall, then he must get in a like for like player...I think Bertin was that.

I'd say O'Callaghan's sending-off and subsquent ban has made it slightly easier for us to sign him.

Getting sent off for a spiteful, reckless, needless challenge is something that pisses managers off no end - and it lends an air of 'owing the gaffer a favour'-type scenario. Remember, Ipswich have already agreed a fee for him, implying he is surplus to requirements at Portman Road - plus he is cup-tied. A reality check from O'Callaghan's agent regarding his salary might ultimately persuade George to sign on the dotted line for a couple of years.

Hopefully Fraser can continue his improvement and take on the role full time.

Nattering to Wilkins during the summer when we had a Forty Notes meeting, I got the impression that - in this instance - Wilkins and Knight were singing from the same hymn sheet. Wendy certainly appeared unimpressed with what he saw as a lack of commitment from M. Bertin.

No, Naylor - you may not make a mischievous story out of that.

hopefully.

I personally think we are two players short of playoffs, andif we lose the two ipswich boys, that is 4 players short. Financially that may not be sucha bad thing, as going up will not be cheap, therefore I think replacing them with like for like or better players is imperative....the current squad players are not the answer IMHO

Do I gather your enthusiasm for the Albion is returning Dave?

but why would bertin have any reason to commit? We hadnt offered him anything by the end of the season and hung out the contracts according to mrs B at the time

I don't get this 'despising' players who want to leave. All of us do it in our working careers, why shouldn't they?

I can't actually think of any ex-Brighton player that I despise.

i just think this division is so poor, we have a good chance of getting out of it. if we get promoted, we maybe able to solve the gates role at a stroke as the teams we will be playing will be A) far better draws B) far better supported and C) entertaining to watch.

ie do we want Yeoville at home next year bringing 200 and the gate 4000, or Crystal Palace, Leicester Wolves etc, bringing full allocation of away fans and a 7000+ gate

so to answer your question, Yes
