Why have we started hoofing it?

Absolutely abysmal today - worst since Scumhurst Park last season. Most worrying of all was the non-stop hoofing to Knight (5ft 4) and Henderson (completely disinterested) and the fact that we didn't even look like we wanted to pass it.

Please, Steve: Get us passing it or pick players who will do (eg, Hammond).

Roberts 3
Hinshelwood 6
Mayo 6
Cullip 6
Butters 5
Oatway 4
Rodger 3
Carpenter 3
Hart 6 (for the goal)
Knight 5
Henderson 4

Harding 6
Piercy 5

We have been hoofing it for two long seasons - and it seems to have worked :) Might do for you. Only thing is it isn't pretty and exciting to watch

i agree. we were awful today. our defence was non existant and apart from one save, we might aswell have had me in goal! henderson needs to get his arse in gear if he wants to do anything this season

The whole of division two seems to be playing as if every team is managed by John Beck.

Every game I've been to both teams "tactics" have been hoof it up to the big man.

We hoofed it because they put us under a lot of pressure as soon as we got the ball and we just had to get rid of it. Plus they threw so many players forward often the best form of defence is to just get it away. Swindon played well.

that aimless hoofing is the very worst aspect of the albion game and has been for a very long time now

and maybe time to introduce a system of fines for any player who thinks that taking a short corner is a good idea :dunce:

Poor old Leon, he was desperate for a halfway-decent ball on the ground and nothing, but nothing was coming his way.

If we're going to play that sort of game we should have started with McPhee and Henderson.

Harding and Piercy looked good when they came on - should have played them from the start.

Rodger looks like he's still sulking about his contract offer and Carpenter is off the boil.

Agreed on all counts and thank God Watson wasn't playing today or it could have been much worse. Watto really seems to have gone off the boil since he was outplayed for most of last season. Are we going to be one of those teams that plays like shit all season and nicks points? :nono:

No chance. We're going to have a bloody good season because we have a very good side at this level. We've only lost once. We've drawn at home to a decent side. No need to worry.

But even Sir Steve has said that he hasn't been pleased with our performance on at least one occasion (Oldham, I think). By all accounts we weren't great against Plymouth last week and I know we played badly against Luton because I was there.

If we were performing at our best now I would be worried. We would have peaked to early. We've got a good point total. We're 5th in the league (league position doesn't mater now but the point is we're not doing badly). We're getting results and we know the players we have can perform better and we can improve on what we have. There is a long long way to go.

Bristol City and Q.P.R. The two sides really fancied this year haven't had superb starts. Droping points here and there.

I'm confident we'll have a good season. Top 7 deffinatly imo. To early to consider where in that top 7 at this stage but I would hope we'll be in the top 4.

theres no quality and the only one htatr has limited ability to pass was taken off (carpenter), we need a Warren Asprinal type player that can pass the ball with accuracy. SC hasnt got a clue and clearly has his eyes on the Hammers job!

what we need is a side of youthfull passers with energy and excuberence(that word, you know it?!).

roberts
hinsh cullip virgo mayo
hart hammond chippie harding
piercy
knight

this is the team i want!!! hungry youngsters with a proven experienced albion through and through backbone.

I haven't seen the last couple of matches, but we play a higher standard of football with sc then we ever did with ma. MA is a good manager, but we played (and now Leicester) a long ball game. SC is trying a passing game, and we look a better side for it. I have faith in Sir Steve. If the players are hoofing it, I am sure he has something to say about it!

brighton bird- we dont play a passing game!!!! we did for maybe 15 minute against qpr and thats it!! we hoof it all the time.

Did you ever watch Brighton under MA? Now that is a hoof! Agree that with Knight being so small shouldn't do the long ball. Henderson and Hart need to cover him more if we had 3 up front but SC favours 442.
