I'm sure this has been asked before but does anyone know why hardly anyone in the north stand stands when there's a chorus of stand up if you want falmer?

the whole south stand does but hardly any of the north stand.

Sorry if this has been discussed but like I say i must of missed it.

It seem like they couldn't care less abotu falmer as they are happily sat in their seats making no noise at all and enjoying their flask of coffee.

Sorry Tinx but I've never seen the whole South stand stand up for We Want Falmer, always a few in in J block (where I usually get tickets) stay seated and you can see them further along still sitting too.

I am going to play devil's advocate here. I think some of the older people feel that standing up just because someone is singing a song is childish.

It doesn't mean that they want Falmer any less than anyone else.

Now, to redeem myself, at the age of 55 I love being childish.

Yes but even in the north stand there is a large number of younger people who don't stand up.

If you've got people behind you and you stand up and they don't they get well pissed off and are like "sit down ffs will you blah blah blah". Perhaps a reaons why? That's why I can't stand up most of the time, even though I am in south.

In which case you should turn around and say "Sorry mate, but until we get Falmer you're stuick with me in front of you! At Falmer we'll have a special place for you lot!"

It's bad enough in the South Stand. At the Plymouth game I was given a firm tap on the shoulder and told to sit down when I started to stand and sing when the Plymouth fans started. Also, while I know everyone has the right to go to a match they want to go to, it annoys me when I hear, "all right Dave, you going to any other matches?" "Yes, I've got tickets for the Arsenal v Blackburn game". These are the people who get so annoyed if you sing or stand up. Do they support the Albion? :nono:

I sit in the North and while I have stood up in the past (and received no complaints at all from supposed old farts) I did not stand up last night. The reason being the people behind me were very old and the chants weren't during a break in play. It would not really be fair to stop them from seeing something they have paid for. My parents didn't stand because they are getting on a bit and it is genuinely difficult for them to keep standing and sitting.

Obviously we don't care at all about Falmer because we didn't stand. The hundreds of letters we sent, the hundreds of names on petitions we gathered, the money spent on flowers, the sit in at Wycombe, the meeting at Falmer all mean nothing because we didn't stand.

Sorry but just because people don't stand it doesn't mean they don't care. If it made any difference to the case at all I'm sure everyone would have stood.

Oh, and from the North I saw a few blocks of the South stand at most - No way the whole stand.

Everyone around me in D Block stands up, except for one man who, I think, has a medical problem, so has an excuse. It always annoys me too when virtually everyone in the North Stand stays seated. However, I appreciate that some, particularly older people might have a problem with it and others, as Desert Orchid says, would complain if people stood up in front of them, even for a brief time. Some are just miserable old farts and some, probably the free ticket brigade, don't really care!

A number of us in the North definately do stand up every time the Falmer chants start up but we are in the minority.

And I sit fairly close to Liz Costa and I can confirm that she and her cronies always stand in support
