Because his tackling is limited, he isn't very physical and he doesn't score goals.

Possibly.

Who says Poyet doesn't rate him?

After the Wycombe game Poyet was worshipping the very ground Dicker walks on. I think he does rate him but wanted to give Hendrie a run in the team, same with Navarro and Arismendi

He's certainly not the best player we've got. He's good on the ball but it was difficult to fit him into a midfield with Crofts and Navarro because none of them are particularly attacking, I think that's why Poyet played Hendrie towards the end of the season. He might have more of a chance next year but either way he is an excellent player to have in the squad.

No surprise that the two biggest/only Dicker detractors happen to be the first two repliers to the thread.

Yup, simple as that, I think. Poyet rates him but wanted to give Hendrie the chance to prove he was worth a contract, unfortunately for Dicker he was probably the most suitable player for Lee to replace in the starting XI. I think (and hope) Dicker will have a big part to play next season.

Absolutely. I think Dicker will be a very important player next season. Our options with Dicker and Navarro already signed and Prutton hopefully coming were a major reason for allowing Crofts to leave. They worked okay in a three man midfield but in a two man midfield you need a solid defensive midfielder and a creative player and Crofts was not really either of those. That is why, whilst I am sad to see him go, I am not as gutted as some people on here.

Why? Dicker is a class act at this level. I really don't understand your problem with him.

And what exactly does he contribute to be called a class act? Goals? No. Assists? No. Great defending? No. Good in the air? No. Defence splitting passes? No.

A few short passes and turns make him a reasonable footballer, but if he is your idea of class then I'm glad you're not in charge!!!

Clearly you don't rate him. Practically everyone else (including Poyet) thinks he's a class act. Let's leave it at that.

I think he's a good League One player at the mo. No more. He clearly has great potential to develop and I expect him to do just that.

His weakness is strength and his occasional ability to give the ball away cheaply.

Certainly don't think that Poyet doesn't rate him...

Because he is not as good as some people think?

Flits in and out of games and struggles to dominate games. Good player has a good range of passes on him but not as good as some think, can't see him being a regular next season

That sums it up for me as well.

I don't reckon Poyet rates him that much either. He is the first midfielder to lose his place. That's why he spent quite a bit of time on the subs bench. There's been a few occassions when he has lost the ball in crucial areas of the pitch where you cannot afford to do so.
Still he is worth having though but not in the starting 11 unless he has a blinding pre season.

He does often lose the ball in stupid positions, but so does Navarro- you can almost guarantee Alan will have one f*** up in our half per game.
