Apart from being in a vastly OVERRATED band he is the ultimate cock end in "give to the poor/save the planet" while proclaiming it from his luxury yacht and burning a massive carbon footprint with his air travel, all the while AVOIDING uk tax.

Spinal Tap took the piss when they did their save the earth video for live earth while driving their 4x4s

Bono = COCK

Hate a bit strong tho.

U2 are one of the those rock bands at the top of the tree....were always my no.1 band.

I went off them after Achtung Baby (which is for me their best album or qat least equal to Joshua Tree). They then went up their own ass!

On checking out Youtube for their Glastonbury debut...AWESOME!! Love or Hate Bono....Im not interested abiout what he does other than on the stage!

One the great Glasto Appearances in my opinion!!

Sleeping on the roof
Loved this bit:

What can you say? Other than fair play to the bird. It has clearly decided to serve as a living, breathing Bono metaphor – squawking, preening, strutting around like it owns the place, and an irksome drain on civic resources funded by taxpayers other than itself. Indeed, I can think of no more eloquent way for the bird to illustrate Bono's tax avoidance than by quite literally shitting on his neighbours' doorstep, and demand this feathered performance artist be given a by on to this year's Turner prize shortlist.

i dont think everyone hates him.. i like the music but he loves the sound of his own voice, thinking himself a self important preacher, i wish he would just sing the tunes.
Also he is an easy target as the band are huge its cool not to like them, like coldplay etc

And of course his name is an anagram of worst sponsor name ever NOBO!

Joshua Tree is a classic album and the Red Rocks ' Under a Blood Red Sky' is classic gig. However, has then spoilt it all by disappearing up his own arse! I might also add that Adam Clayton when playing has an arrogant smirk that makes me want to punch him. And he is also a very ordinary bassist.

Tax dodging? Call me naiive, but could please explain further.

The focus on U2 and tax, whereas 'heroes' like Jagger & Richards, Button, and 1000's of other celebs have barely paid a penny in tax in their lives.

Perhaps dislike of their music, is the underlying reason for these one-sided rants.

What do people here think of the tax arrangements (i.e. don't pay any) of Jagger & Richards, Button, and 1000's of other celebs? Out of extremely large incomes and wealth.

People hate hypocrites, Bono at the very least is a hypocrite.

Its always the same when the powerful, (whether they are wealthy or politically) preach about the plight of the powerless.

To be fair to Bono the politicans are the worst culprits because their conduct frequently shits on the doctrine they represent to the electorate. We know the types, like socialist Diane Abbott (who sent her kids to a private school) or the atheist Nick Clegg (who sent his kids to a Catholic School). Having to listening to privileged millionaires like Cameron or Harman sympathising with the difficulties of the poor equally sticks in the throat because of the rank hypocrisy.

Whilst Bono is not a politican he regularly chooses puts himself on the political pedestal (unlike some of his peers) because he wants us to help him save starving Africans. This is a man who must be a billionairre; he has a £500m stake in facebook alone. If he chose to quietly donate 5-10% of his personal wealth to the cause he would quicly transform himself from hypocrite to hero. But he hasn't.

As he is not a politician I couldn't care less about his tax position he isn't breaking any laws. The Milibands on the other hand are different as they used the loopholes to avoid tax on the multi million pound estate of the Marxist Dad Adolf. Listening to those fuckers going on about tax avoidance is laughable and like Bono droning on about starving Africans.

Is it just me but every U2 song sounds the same?

It must be that choppy guitar thing going on in the background.

As for Bono - Robin Williams with wrap around shades.:wanker:

Lots of other artists are "clever" with their tax, but they don't spout off about poverty and saving the world. THAT'S why people dislike him. It's the self righteous hypocracy.

Not sure the other celebrities mentioned spend a lot of time publicly encouraging governments to write off loans whilst at the same time moving their hundreds of millions from one tax free haven to another.

That's the problem.

I chuckled that the Edge has also planning permission turned down for his coastal "eco-mansion" complex in Malibu.

I have slightly more respect for Paul McCartney to be honest who appears to live the lifestyle he preaches that others should follow.
