Why do Chelsea...

Does anyone know on here why Chelsea sing...

Were all following Chelsea
over land and sea
and LEICESTER?

I'm pretty sure I haven't heard it wrong.

I guess its a question to ask a Chelsea fan but it made me laugh if they do have a strange hatred for Leicester, the place is a shit hole, but other than that i cant see why.

It's a joke that goes back to the 80s isn't it? It used to be lots of clubs singing that, not just Chelsea.

We hate Manchester United
But Southampton we love you.

Now we sing the version Chelsea, but obviously use Portsmouth instead of Leicester.

goes back long before that, I can remember it being sung in 1981.

wsnt there a stabbing or something - i thought a chelsea fan was stabbed by a leciester fan in the late 70's.

All wrong.

It's actually to do with a motorway sign on the M1 (I think) that lists a few towns and the mileage to them, and then at the bottom of the sign says "And Leicester 62" or something.

Arsenal sing it as well.
