I’m really not sure £13m less Wigan’s share would make that much of a difference to TB. We’re sitting on £80m plus for Bissouma and Lamptey at least and got £50m for White.

How can you conclude it was a poor decision?
The team has only played 270 minutes of league football and Burn clearly wasn't going to play for 180 of those minutes.

Which turned out to be an outstanding deal, but at the time, Veltman hadn't got 4 years of PL football under his belt. As we've seen, to our considerable cost, the Eredivisie churns out a LOT more duds than than gems.

When Burn left us for £13m, he was a battle-hardened, proven PL defender who had established himself as a versatile and important member of our team. Nobody is irreplacable, but we would do very well to find someone of his experience and skillset now, for £13m.

The fact the horse-punchers are so delighted with this deal should tell you all you need to know.

Ostigard, Van Hecke, Clarke etc. cost less than £13m combined. Selling Burn creates the pathway for them.

I'm afraid this is what happens when a football club is run by people with no experience of making deals. We were easy meat for the more business savvy Geordies.

Sarcasm so subtle as to nearly not be sarcasm at all. Clearly BHA is run by very clever businessmen but that doesn’t mean we all have to agree with every deal they make. My post shows that I am on the fence on this one.
