Why did we not sign a striker in January???

With relegation a realistic possibility, why oh why have we left ourselves bereft up front?

Even players like Stead at Bradford or the ancient Cureton know how to put the ball in the net, there must have been someone we could have signed permanently or on loan - after all we do have 25K+ at every home game?

I think it's disgraceful!

Plenty of 'nobody available' or FFP posts to follow but neither seem to have stopped other teams in our league from making good signings and some with piss poor attendances. Perhaps we should stop hiding behind these and admit we lack ambition.

What we need is our midfield to create more chances , we also need to get more men in the box when eventually get the ball in the box . At the moment we just don't create enough chances

7 goals in the last 3 homes games?
Hughton set up the team very defensively at Cardiff & Wednesday to keep clean sheets. Let's see how we get on this week at the Amex. Personally I would prefer O'Grady to Best.

I'll-informed? Refuses to read the Argus (maybe got it confused with the Sun)? Illiterate? Not a fan? Maybe live in Croydon?

Hard to be sure. Boring anyway.

I think it's about getting regular goals from the three players behind the striker. Tex, March, Baldock, Lua Lua and our new mystery signing need to step up away from home and our defence needs to sort itself out at the Amex!

1. The loan window isn't closed yet.

2. WTF does having 25k+ home attendance have to do with signing a striker?

Budget, FFP, availability, fit, want to come, etc etc. Take your pick, there are plenty of reasons!

Thing is, we only now need to finish 4th from bottom or better this season, with the aim of then strengthening in the summer. We probably have the squad to do that, just about.

1. Accepted, but we could have done business about 4-5 weeks ago.

2. Everything. Albion are one of the best supported teams in the Division, if we cannot afford a striker now, when will we be able to?

Our budget/FPP considering the way we decimated the squad should be fine, would they want to come - well that's another question? Surely you would, if you saw the set up & that the club were ambitious!

Jon Stead had scored 3 goals this season.

They were saying on MOTD yesterday that Sunderland got rid of him because he didn't score goals. if you look at this record, he has rarely reached an average of one goal every 4 games. he has hardly set the world alight.

Maybe our failure to sign him shows we did some homework, or that he was never on the radar in the first place, because he doesn't score many goals..

1: Who is this mythical striker that is not good enough for his own team, but will get 6-8 goals for us by the end of the season? If he was that good, he would be playing in someone else's first XI, so why come to the Albion for a relegation scrap? Darren Bent had the chance and preferred Derby.

2: We spent £2 million on strikers last summer. Spending money doesn't guarantee goals. A striker would see we have CMS, Baldrick and COG and wonder how easy it would be to get the one striker shirt that is available, and probably decide to stay where he is and see what is available in the summer, especially if he doesn't fancy League 1.
