Paddy McCourt

Nationality: Northern Irish

Albion Career: 2014-15 (10 appearances, 0 goals)

Credentials: Looked like he turned up to matched having slept in a skip the night before. Couldn’t do anything other than epic solo runs. A proper Sunday league style player.

Alan Biley

Nationality: English

Albion Career: 1984-86 (35 appearances, 8 goals)

Credentials: Absolutely incredible hair. Top level swordsman and very questionable attitude.

Shane Duffy

Nationality: Irish

Albion Career: 2016-2023 (140 appearances, 9 goals)

Credentials: Elite shagger and boozer. Attracted a fair bit of tabloid scandal. Headbutted a Palace player.

Jurgen Locadia

Nationality: Curacaoan/Dutch

Albion Career: 2018-22 (35 appearances, 3 goals)

Credentials: Seemed to be far more interested in his music career than his football one. Signed for loads of money and did very little. Ended up playing in Iran?!

Gonzalo Jara Reyes

Nationality: Chilean

Albion Career: 2011 & 2012 (14 appearances, 0 goals)

Credentials: Absolute madman who had a questionable attitude to road safety. Hard as nails but limited as a player despite amassing a whopping 115 caps for his national side.

Rod Thomas

Nationality: English

Albion Career: 1998-01 (48 appearances, 4 goals)

Credentials: Mercurial wing wizard who often flattered to deceive. Was hailed as the “next Pele” at aged 14.

Robbie Savage

Nationality: Welsh

Albion Career: 2008 (6 appearances, 0 goals)

Credentials: Remains the only Albion player to have appeared on Strictly Come Dancing. Rocked up for a fairly pointless loan spell and was very unfit so just spent most of the time pleasuring himself in his hotel room or eating fry ups at Buddies Diner. Signed to much fanfare but despite his white boots and long blonde hair, was rubbish.

Alireza Jahanbaksh

Nationality: Iranian

Albion Career: 2018-21 (50 appearances, 2 goals)

Credentials: His signing was one of the greatest ever Albion transfer sagas. Devilishly handsome. Did very little other than scoring one of the greatest Albion goals of all time.

Johnny Byrne

Nationality: Irish

Albion Career: 1990-91, 1993, 1995-96 (97 appearances, 22 goals)

Credentials: Nothing that I can see. Please enlighten me.

This. Flair yet luxury player. A poor man's George Best. Did better against us than for us, arguably. Got to be in with a shout of the whole thing.

I do think it's very important to emphasise with Gonzalo Jara Reyes that he couldn't be selected for one of our games because he was UNDER ARREST at the time.

I’d vote paddy all day long. Not just looking like he had rolled off a park bench having spent the night swigging spirits from a bottle in a brown paper bag, whilst offering to fight the local hooligan youths, he was the only vaguely exciting player of that incredibly dull season. I remember longingly looking to the bench thinking hopefully the manager will bring paddy on soon least he may do something whilst knowing deep down he will most likely go on a mazy run roll it across the 6 yard box where there would be no one to tap it in as the other 10 watched on is awe of this genius in action, or he would trip over his own laces first touch he got.

there genuinely was a period where we were really struggling and McCourt was always on the bench where the sight of him emerging from the bench to do a "warm up" was greeted with Vicente-esque levels of excitement. PURELY BASED ON THE SOLO RUNS

Biley will always get more affection than he deserves, based purely on the only photos of him, feature the GREATEST ALBION KIT OF ALL TIME.

The bleached blond locks, a natural footballer, showman, football with a smile and an arrogant p-taker. I knew one of our age 16 to 19 cohort when Wilkins was manager and Byrne either had a role or visited his mate ... he said it was impossible a whole bunch of them to rob the ball from the the pair ... supremely arrogant and skilled.

Gonzalo Jara Reyes edges it for me. An actual criminal playing for us intermittently between court appearances, and being a horrible upstart when he played.

I never really ‘got’ Paddy McCourt. I found him irrelevant and forgettable.
