Whoooosh. I never use words like tinpot and cringeworthy in conversation, in fact I think this is probably only the second time I've ever typed them. That said, I do think it's all bit undignified and maybe a little childish the way they burn effigies and make out these events to be oh so important. Like I said, that's what I think, then again, I think other things are important that other people don't agree with.

My initial comments drew the required response from you. Quite whether Lewes is for me or not seems the quandary, I've been there many times, I was there today as it happens. If you're referring to the fireworks, I've been to them too, I like fireworks, I like crowds of people having a good time. But the amount of effort put into the 'event' and putting up a figure of fun/hate as an effigy to burn seems a bit odd to me, maybe that is the bit that is 'not for me' whatever that means.

Bearing in mind that there will be six of the Lewes Bonfire Societies marching on Thursday, it will be the case that six tableaux will feature on the night.

Suggesting that "Lewes" will burn one target simply reveals an ignorance of what goes on.

I'm wondering whether I've seen the only tableau of the bonfire season to feature David Cameron and a pig, or whether one of the Lewes Societies will do similarly on Thursday.

You clearly have no idea about the history, tradition and absolute bloody brilliance of bonfire night in Lewes so why even bother commenting?

Actually don't bother answering either. I only put a question mark there to be grammatically correct. I don't care.

My wife doesn't get that I buy loads of fireworks every year and love setting them off for the nipper and his cousins to enjoy. It's actually for me (and my Mum who also lives up here) to enjoy the most cos we're from Lewes.

Still remember the Scargill vs Maggie display and others from when I was little. Superb.
