Outside of the big six, who are your team of the season?
From the Times online:
PH Brighton & Hove Albion. Seeing Danny Welbeck roll back the years and bang in six goals has been one of the stories of the season. Brighton also deserve praise for taking a punt on Ferdi Kadioglu, one of the best players at the Euros, whom they signed from Fenerbahce for £25million.
TA Can you keep answering Brighton to this question? They’ve beaten Manchester United, Tottenham, Newcastle and City already, and sit fourth, two points behind Arsenal. Welbeck, 34, is in the form of his life, alongside João Pedro, the south coast’s Ronaldinho. And all under their 31-year-old coach, Fabian Hürzeler. Brighton are the gift that keeps on giving.
HKL Brighton. Hürzeler has made a fantastic impression, keeping some of the best elements and successes of Roberto De Zerbi, his predecessor, and adding touches of his own too. The absence of European football has given Brighton the capacity to prepare for matches, work on tactics and keep their players fresh — if they can continue to do so, they could seriously challenge for fourth.
GR Brighton’s evolution this season has been subtle yet impactful, and the way Hürzeler has negotiated his first season as a Premier League head coach has been hugely impressive. Brighton’s only Premier League defeats have been at the hands of Chelsea and Liverpool, and there is a sense at the Amex that they might even have collected more than the 23 points that have lifted them to fourth.
