The team did well. The style of play was identical to the first team and we dominated possession. Kasim got the man of the match award but Cook, Rodgers and Adjestein stood out for me.

Thought Yaser Kasim and Steve Cook looked particularly composed and skillfull and stole the show for me. Feel very happy with the way the academy players are coming on, no hoofing just patient possession football, great to watch.

very impressive considering they were essentially a bunch of kids (and hart) playing against generally more experienced players

i thought the centre backs, especially cook, were superb......composed on the ball, good in the air, good positioning

kasim, rogers and simmonds were all very good....again, really good composure on the ball, and always used it well

kasim deserved MOM

GK - Michael Poke - not the best, dropped a couple of crosses

LB - Ben Sampayo - Good, tracked back well, interceptions and passes very good
CBs - Grant Hall and Steve Cook - FANTASTIC, very comfortable, very composed
RB - Jamie Strong - Noticed him the least, but some good harassing and blocking

CDM - Yaser Kasim - Very composed, can see why he was given a first team game last season - That turn at the end was BRILLIANT - made the Borough player fall to the ground
Midfield - Anton Rogers - Classy, strong, intelligent, great passing and turns - Very very good
Midfield - Ryan Simmonds - Busy, very good in general - great set pieces I thought

FW - Gary Hart - Still looked good! Turns, intelligent passing, so so glad he scored - very fitting
FW - Torbjorn Agdestein - I thought he looked very, very promising. His touches were generally very good, showed some excellent strength and vision!
FW - George Barker - Some very good linkup play I thought with Simmonds and Rogers - unlucky not to have got the ball away from their Keeper in the first half.

Redwood - Didn't see much to be honest, but looked pacy

Interesting comment on the Eastbourne Borough forum:-

Albion "kept ball well but often did **** all with it".

They just don't get it, do they?

Yes. Any team that strolls out and wins two nil has done all they need to.

What an idiotic comment from Eastbourne.

"The style of play was identical to the first team and we dominated possession." This is what we want to hear, it means anyone can step up at any time and fit into Gus' style / vision, just like Arsenal, awesome...

Cook was excellent. I do not think I would be too fussed if he had to step up to the first team. Although I appreciate it was only Eastbourne.

Kasim very good and the little fella with orange boots in the middle of the park looked very promising. Ha they all looked like little fellas from the back of the WSU.

Who was that guy in the orange boots? I thought he caught the eye.

I don't think it's fair to describe the style as identical to the first team just yet either, it was a long way off that  bit you could see what they were trying to do.

Cook has been promising for some time - delighted that he is now shining in the Dev Side. May not yet be the answer for CB cover, but a real prospect.

As for Eastbourne comments - it's a pathetic inditement ofEnglish football fans that their side was beaten 2-0 but they suggest we did nothing with it. Whereas in fact, whatever Eastbourne did, they actually did nothing with it because they failed to score. Brace yourselves for a lot of flack from Championship fans this season - but we know (as do Swansea and other sides playing like this) that this is the way forward.

In Gus We Trust.

Cook and Kasim were the two who stood out for me. Its only one game but I didn't see anything from Torbjorn Agdestein to suggest he will make a major impact on the first team - not particularly pacey, skilfull or good in the air as far as I could see.

The whole team passed it around well in the style of the first team - but they didn't have the players to exploit situations where defenders were isolated one on one - a Noone, Lua Lua type of player. But I guess if we had that type of player spare - they wouldn't be in the development squad.

GK - Michael Poke - dodgy keeper!

LB - Ben Sampayo - OK but a bit lightweight. Good use of the ball
CBs - Grant Hall and Steve Cook - stood out, I really think there was a good understanding between them and either could play in the first team no problem
RB - Strong - looked ok

Midfield - Yaser Kasim - I liked him, good vision and intelligent, a lot of our best moves went through him, given MOM
Midfield - Anton Rogers - lots of potential, was very involved in central mid and looked like a player with a future
Midfield - Ryan Simmonds - looked like Dean Cox with an end product. Could be very good

FW - Gary Hart - honestly, he still looked like he could do a job for the squad. His passing and positioning were very good and he was constantly interacting with the younger players
FW - Torbjorn Agdestein - Didn't score but came close and looks like he has first team potential. Worked very hard
FW - George Barker - reminded me of a young Nicky Forster in his playing style but did get knocked off the ball fairly easily

Thought George Barker was really good when shifted out to the left, seemed to drift past players at will. Anton Rodgers was useful as well, messed up his final ball a bit though. Kasim was class, looked as if he was playing well within himself as well.

All sounds promising for the future. Wonder how the young lads will do without OGH in the squad as a leader. Would he not have been worth a youth coach job as seems that's what he's been for couple of years. Or is it that he wants to play on for couple years? Sure he could somewhere :)

Kasim definitely looks like one to watch, he looks like he could step up to the first team without too much difficulty. The centrebacks as well were very impressive; very comfortable on the ball and very tidy marshalling and tackling any boro attackers. I thought Barker looked very busy, full of energy. The ball didn't really fall for Agdestein to really show what he can do. Rogers and Simmonds looked very promising as well.

What I liked the most is that they played exactly the same style as the first team - the way it should be. Top marks for Oatway.
