What people are assuming here, and it is a bloody huge one, is that one of the premiership "big boys" would actually want to play us...we are still playing in the third tier of English football and much as I would like to think that we could get a big name for the first game I suspect that we might not. Would you all rather have someone like Donny Rovers, who actually mean something to us, or a team of fringe, youth and makeweights from somewhere like Man Utd.

I think that the first game at Falmer will sell out, regardless of the opposition, better to make it something meaningful. It would be quite easy for our opponents to include a couple of guest players, maybe Eric Cantona would fancy turning out for them or one or two of the players we have had on loan over recent seasons but went on to better things.

Good post....I,m for the Donny. The first game at Falmer will be about the "end" of the struggle for a new stadium. If the whole of Sussex doesn,t fancy Donny.....so what. I want it to be a game against a team who have faced a little of the adversities that we have over the last 10 years and have a remote understanding of what an emotional day it will be.If there is only the hardcore 5,000 attending....it,ll do for me. I shall be happy among those who fought, in their own way for survival for this club.

heart - says Donny, head says we should opt for a headline grabbing huge game which will have all of Sussex queueing at the turnstiles (if the lovely new Falmer has turnstiles). Maybe, with a view to the 2012 Olympics with which the club wants to be involved - this should be reflected? One of the smaller OLympic national teams perhaps???

The first Albion game will hopefully be a big name, with a second pre-season 'celebration' game against Donny.

The first 'ramp up game' behind closed doors is equally important. The club have indicated that they will ask me to organise some sort of fans game, NSC v REMF for example. If we can raise enough people who want to play?

It will be the first ever game at Falmer - are you seriously telling me it won't be a sell out!

Yes, yes I am. The first game at Falmer, with decent opposition, will probably sell out. The first game at Falmer, against a lower division club, will not sell out. By way of comparison, Doncaster's first match at the Keepmoat Stadium (against Huddersfield) didn't sell out - and that's only got a capacity of 15,000.

This ridiculous fawning over Doncaster irritates me, frankly - "Oooh we've got to play Donny because we played a match against them a decade ago". No, we haven't. We've got to attract casual supporters to the new stadium and Doncaster Rovers will not entice people for the simple reason that they aren't very good. No-one is going to get excited about seeing Paul Heffernan or Jamie Coppinger. We need to play a London, or south coast, Premiership club to get people in there.
