If Gus has allegedly 5 million at his disposal where should we be looking?

I think get Lee Hendrie in permanently to add a bit of flair.

Ian Harte from Carlisle in at Left back.

Micheal owen if fit enough as no premier league side will want him next year and if he can stay fit will give us teh cutting edge we sorely lack - plus will get him on a free from United so no cost other than wages get him on a pay as you play deal.

Billy Paynter to slot in alongside Owen - If Swindon fail to get promoted we should be able to draft him in.

If we fail to get Owen how about Theo Robinson from Huddersfield in attack.

Gary Mc Sheffery from Leeds creative and experienced would certainly liven up up attacking midfield options.

Also young Joe Thompson from Rochdale - Up and coming star would slot in well in midfield and also get a fair share of goals in a season for us.

In defence see if we could tempt Ryan Shotton from barnsley another young lad but has played very well for them this season.

Goalkeeper wise a bit unsure but i have a feeling David James will eb looking to play out his final season somewhere and why not with us - A lot of experience to pass onto Brez and bar the odd blunder is the experienced head we require.

Go get them Gus - If you don't get all these players or at least all but Owen i can guarantee we will not be promoted next season.

Wow someone has been on the drink. 5 million no chance. Owen really, David James, Englands No 1, do you know what league we are in.

Well ok maybe Owen and James were a tad ambitious but the rest should be ok.

I am increasingly concerned however over Englands world cup hopes if James is Englands number one.

Michael Owen...that really is hilarious, the man is more prone to injury than Kitson was...he would be a complete and utter liability, a waste of rations...oh, and I reckon his best was about 5 years ago, round about the time he cocked it all up with Real Madrid.

However, some of the other suggestions would certainly improve the current squad, like the sound of the lad from Rochdale...maybe one for the future!

Some people are kidding themselves if they think we're going to spend millions and millions in the summer.

Bloom said in the week they won't spend as silly as some League 1 clubs have this term. Presumably referring to Huddersfield.

A laughable list, the fact that you have Ian Harte, who happened to score against us yesterday for Carlisle, alongside Owen and James suggests there wasn't exactly a lot of thought involved! Also, anyone who suggests we spend a lot of money n a player to 'add a bit of flair' obviously has a slightly inflated view of Brighton's position in the grander scheme of football!

Wow! David James and Owen, and there was me thinking Billy Sharp was unrealistic. All we need is a top goalscorer, 25+ a season and not 2 non-league players up top

Ian harte a decent suggestion a lot of experience still useful always rated him. Would do a good job for us. Billy Paiynter there is your 20+ goals a season - Theo Robinson from Huddersfield alongside him easy 40 goals a season between them. Get hendrie in to bring that little bit of imagination. Joe Thompson from Rochdale in the middle with hendrie. Ryan Shotton from Barnsley at the back and jobs a good un.
As for my fishing with Owen and Jame sit seems to have reeled a few in, but the other guys are all possibles and realistic.

It was suggested in another thread that we have two keepers who are good enough for this division but not at a higher level. Should we looking for players with the sole intention of getting us out of league one or at players who can compete in the championship as Mr Bloom wishes? Have we recently got rid of a striker who is still capable of scoring 20 goals next season? Has Dickinson showed at Peterborough that he is worth keeping at Brighton? Should we unload Murray? Are Holdroyd and Barnes the answer? Bighton has always been an ambitious club, Bloom and Poyet seem to want to carry on that tradition.

I think we need to ship out half the current squad.

I think you need to stop taking the happy pills if you believe we have that bigger player budget.

What budget do we have then if we can't afford a bloke form Barnsley another from Rochdale a striker from that powerhouse of football Swindon and another guy from Huddersfield and not forgetting an experienced vetaran in defence from Carlilse- we really are small fry if we can't pull that off.

Please you are joking ?!
Owen ??? what a realistic target.
Why would Paynter want to come? He's possibily going to be promoted this year, and if not Swindon will be pushing next year.
Exactly the same scenario with Robinson.
And England's number 1? i'm sure he will relish the target of league one football.
