So the end of a mixed season for Sussex, they won a trophy and never really got going in the proper cricket. Although the loss of 32 overs in the 4 day games, coupled with the weather, Ryan Harris and Mushy's fitness did not help. However it does seem to be the end of an era for the club, there are some good young spinners coming through, Nash seems to have come of age, after a shakey middle period in the season and even Hoppo has found a niche at number 6.

The fast bowling needs sorting.

So who do you keep of those out of contract? Surely it must be the end for Kirtley and can Lewry be sticky plastered through another season?

kirtley must go- lewry might have another year left in him yet, especially if we have another cock up on the strike bowling front ala the start of last season

It seems like we've been sticking plasters on ACE for the last 10 years, so I think we should keep him until he falls apart. I'd like us to keep Sami (is that possible next season?) and then sign and up and coming seam bowler who we can develop.

If Adams decides to retire as a player then we'll need to replace him.

Other than that, no change.

who is the Swede Beater?

We have a tiny squad, so we will end up keeping them all, but definatley need to keep Rayner in the absence of Mushy, as well as Hoppo.

Ben Brown, will be second choice keeper behind Hodd, as Prior will be off most of the season

WAT Beer and Smith, I dont know too much about, but worth keeping them just to make up numbers

Kirtley, Lewry, Aga may well get the cop

I'm undecided about Kirtley, he does occasionally bowl brilliantly and think he's worth keeping if he can coach some of the youngsters, Lewry is definetely worth keeping. The rest we all want although i think someone will nab Brown as he's too good to be second choice to Hodd and that's asuming Prior doesn't play much

Kirtley, Smith and Aga to go from that list. Brown seems to be the country's big keeping hope now so we must hold on to him, if we can. Hoppo likes batting down the order as is scoring consistently now, also best fielder in the country. Rayner has better figures than Saqlain this season and is coming on leaps and bounds (if only he'd get his batting going). Beer must stay as must Lewry.

Sami is available. At present he cannot play for Pakistan as he is an ICL player, so ideal, really.

I would be inclined to hold on to Aga, he can swing the ball both ways and if he can stop leaking runs he is a decent option.

Tom Smith is difficult to call, he looked good in the FTP Games in May, but is down the pecking order, even with Mushy's retirement.

Id keep Hoppo as he's done really well since his move to 6. I'm assuming we'd have to have Sami as the Overseas player, so think we should get rid if we think we can get better. I thought Dwayne Smith would fill Adam's role in the county matches

I think with such a small squad its about adding rather than subtracting from the squad.

We need an opening batsman to replace Monty and Ward still, that will work well with Nash and build platforms for Goodwin, Prior/Hodd, RMJ etc.

Right, how about we open with Dwayne Smith? if we comes off we could have 200 on the board before lunch. And if he gets out for nothing he'll be doing exactly the same as Nash and Hoppo did at the beginning of the season

Rana and Monty have never been replaced and this has cost us; Mushy's a big loss but I doubt he'd have been so effective this season as it's been very wet.
Yardy - if he's going to open then we need a replacement for him at '3', if not we still need an opener to partner Nash.
Murray - my player of the season by some way.
Adams - if he stays then he needs to deliver something/anything, if not we need to replace him (is that Gower's role).
Prior & Wright - likely to be on England duty so we need someone to substitute for Luuuuuuuuke (or is this Gower?).
Hoppo - best season so far, must have been the sweepstake.
Ollie - did very well imo but we could do with a few runs from him.
Tucker - good all round effort this year
Collymore - OK(ish) but he's not the answer imo.
Lewry - how long can he keep going?
