Who should be German captain, Lahm or Ballack?

Will Ballack even get his place back? Schweinsteiger was a revelation in central midfield - why go backwards?

i dont see how Ballack can keep up with the rest of them and would be a serious weakness with their current tactics. i cant see the purpose to change a successfull team and tactics for one player who wont make the next tournement anyway.

Suspect football's not top on Philipp Lahm's thoughts at the moment.

Difficult one. Lahm is, I think, the best defender in the world and a natural team player and leader by example. Ballack has always done better for Germany than for Chelsea so people here naturally underrate him.

But, as the world cup showed yet again, team spirit is Germany's not-so-secret weapon and Ballack is an arrogant, money-bloated individualist. So I'd stick with Lahm. He is absolutely bloody brilliant; his performance against Ghana was the stuff of legend. It'll also be interesting to see what effect playing in the very decent but financially far more modest environment of Bayer Leverkusen will have on Ballack.

Lahm's a little fella, is that a pram he's sitting in?

As bringing on the youth has worked wonders for them, I would stick with Lahm as captain if I were them.
