My recall of games is shockingly poor. Maybe my sub conscious is sparing me the pain of being an Albion fan for 40 odd years.

My dad made us leave my first game 5 minutes before the end - so missed my first Albion goals - both scored by the wonderful Eric Potts to make the final score 2-1 against Sunderland in those final five minutes. No idea what game or goal came after that! it was 1978.

At home to Southampton with a penalty. Result was 1-1. Might of been 82. ( but I could be wrong on all of this lol)

Albert Mandy v Southampton in 1954. A 1-2 defeat. I was 7 so can’t remember much about the goal but I know it was scored at the south end during a goalmouth scramble. I was most impressed by the size of the crowd (having checked it was 22,000 plus). Funnily enough I can remember no more goals until a few years later.

Interesting, cos he scored with a pen at UP in a 1-1 draw. Baking hot summers day and we had that renowned thug, Gerry Ryan, sent off! I was in their end (opposite to our lot) and it was 'lively'!

Maybe you can help me then. My first game was on 8 Nov 1958 v Bristol Rovers. It was 1-1 and both teams also missed a penalty - ours hit the bar and theirs hit the roof of the stand. But I don't know who scored for us and can't find it online.
