I've just started playing recently and I must say.. it is quality.

But I need a racket. A beginners one.. but not one that's too shit. What can you fellow Squashists recommend?

Any brand names to steer clear of? anything in particular I should look out for in a racket?

Oh.. and I've been told a headband will make me better by a factor of 2. Is this correct?

Mucas Gracias

A few peeps I know have started playing this, perhaps I should look into it ...

just back from my twice weekly heart attack inducing hour in a glass box.

great way to either a) get / keep fit or b) twist ankles, knees, wrists...

i am rubbish, but bloody love playing it. Can burn 700 calories in an hour's game.

As for rackets, go for Grays... Old school squash firm. and get involved with the classic Hi Tec Squash trainers

Oh, and yes, you increase your abilty to dodge the speeding ball by 1000 with a FLAIR headband and matching wristbands.

Grays.

I moved from squash to racket ball in my forties and am glad I did (although I am rubbish at it as well). Would recommend it for any other oldies.

I have been playing squash for 20 years.Fantastic game.
As far as a racket goes, sports world sell decent rackets at very good prices. They do a very good Wilson (N-tour 120) and a very good dunlop racket for a bout £50.
Stick with it and try and play people slightly better than yourself. It is worth joining a local ladder league if you want to get better.Good luck.

There is an old saying.Squash is a game to keep fit not get fit!.
Never had an injury in 20 years of playing approx twice a week.

I'm fascinated to know how you have been playing so far without a racquet!!

This does the job just fine:
