Brighton factually.....

Ward was a hero for a few brief years in a an expensive squad at the time. As Tommy Cook was a hero to so many over a longer period of time in a poorer squad, if we could watch videos I'm sure he would be up there surely.....

It wasn't an expensive squad when he first broke into it. In later years maybe.

Peter Ward. Most football fans under 35 won't have even heard of him - yet he is idolised by Brighton fans young and old.

He wasn't a 'cult hero' as such though. He's more of an all-time great. I'd say they are different things.

Exactly. John Crumplin is probably the archetypal Albion cult hero (for someone of my age) .
So much wrong with this thread

Definitely, it's all over the shop.

Of our Amex era for example, you would say Ulloa was a HERO whereas Vicente has to be a CULT HERO.

Perry Digweed?

Funny name, played in tights and lost a bollock for the cause. Is that cult hero or just plain old hero?

Cult hero ? Should include Ward etc...

Hans Kray
Frank Worthington
Vicente

.. and that bloke who Adams got in ? Ex Army - didn't play much but scored at the Withdean ?

CULT! equals unlikely, strange, unexpected, not the most sung about player in the history of the club for goodness sake.
