I think Mandela could go first, his prostrate gland must be like a space hopper.

These days he's in and out of the hospital, cancelling appointments and stinking of piss.

Must be worth a 2-1 shot?

What if they went on the same day - the media would go mental.

Above is a statement by a MORON ( Cunning Fergus) of the highest order. HOW DARE YOU INSULT THIS ICON, NELSON MANDELLA.

I'm not quite sure I'd know how to feel if this happened.

It would be a great tragedy if they died on the same day. No doubt he would steal all of Maggie's thunder, just cos he spent a few years in prison for being black. Try going to America, there's loads of black people in prison just because of the colour of their skin. The world doesn't hold Aung San Su Kyi in the same regard because oh, she's only yellowy brown. Maggie brought this country up by the scruff of the neck from it's knees. She deserves her day of glory.

What are you talking about? Aung San Su Kyi has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, a US congressional medal of honour and countless other honorary awards. She's been the subject of a UN resolution and has had several UN secretary-generals make representations on her behalf.

In fact, there has been criticism that the world has too much regard for Aung San Su Kyi and not enough for other political prisoners. It's not a view I personally hold - it's not a zero-sum game - but I would scarcely think that she's held in little regard.

Probably just a fraction of what Mandela's been awarded. I mean, come on, he gets a street party every year in London on his birthday. And SHE's never had the chance to meet David Beckham or the Spice Girls has she? Now THAT'S what I'm talking about.

It's a bit tricky when you're under house arrest. :dunce:

How many times did Mandela meet famous footballers and pop stars during the 27 years he was held in prison then?

Exactly my point. People are falling over themselves to see him just 'cos he's done a bit of time. They didn't want to know when he was in there. How many people did you hear of trying to get into his cell? None. At least Aung Suu has had a couple of people try to reach out to her...

Hold the bus, Nelson is an elderly 91 years of age, a bit mutton, half venetian and his disco dancing days are well and truly in the distant past.

He has a history of prostrate related problems and has been ducking out of appointments in recent years as a result of his poor health. This has been widely reported in the press.

With his downstairs problems he will be in the same boat as plenty of other olds who have a bit of tinkle trouble, for all we know he might stink of shit too?

Surprised that you think Nelson should be exempt from a bit of irreverent banter on a thread about the death of Mrs Thatch, and not sure why you would refer to me as a moron when you can't even spell old stinker's surname.
