Following on from the other thread. We all know midfield has been a problem for us since the pre season, and it seems Micky doesnt know who is best as he hasnt been able to field his team yet.

So all of these players have played in midfield this season, who have been the best of the bunch???

Thornton when he actually played. Johnson probably the most effective given that he started every game although he did look less than interested at certain times during his loan spell.

Dviding number of performance with number of games played well the honest answer is......

Doug Loft!!!!

of course if he'd played a few more he might have been woeful but compared to the others his avergae rating would be enormous.

Thornton and Savage showed promise in the games I've seen, but bit too late to vote for them now gone.

that list is f***ing MENTAL - NINE of them are not natural midfielders for crying out loud!

id say livermore when he has actually been started - its blatantly obvious the bloke can do a better job than any of the other jokers we have in the centre of the park, yet adams fails to realise this, much like the thornton situation

Brilliant. So, the two runaway leaders in this poll have both left the club. Great...

Adams has turned out team into a f***ing joke.

not forgetting one of them spent the large majority of his loan spell on the BENCH

I hav'nt seen many games this season but by far and away the best midfield performance I've seen was Thornton against Cheltenham, In fact I'd go as far as saying it was one of the best I've seen from an Albion player in quite a few years. Just a shame he got dropped for the next game as a reward for his efforts.

I would say Thornton, but he was never given a chance. But when he came on he gave us another dimension, but for me it has to be Bradley Johnson. Always got forward and looking to score, and was never affraid to shoot from long range.

So Bradley Johnson plays, what, a grand total of 80 minutes of quality football over his whole time here and is winning the best midfielder of the season poll? :thud:

Have to agree there, voted Johnson, but shame Livermores had injurys but in the long run reckon he will be a key midfielder and is better than most of the others we have at the mo.

Can't believe Johnson is winning as, other than having 4 good shots, he did bugger all in his time here.

Johnson had a decent scoring record, and a higher quality of play than pretty much all the midfielders we've seen here. I don't think he was brilliant, but out of all the players we've seen I'd say he was the one that looked to have a bit more class about him. Thornton was also good, although I'd question his consistency and also whether he contributed as much to the team as a whole.

So out of the 75 votes, only 18 votes are for ACTUAL midfielders currently contracted to us. Great.
