With England we're currently blessed with a plethora of attack minded talent, we need a manager who can embrace an attacking style of play. Potter's just a less shit version of Southgate, more sideways football and no hope of ever winning a trophy.

Can’t see Potter being a good fit, he is an excellent coach but in the last 2 jobs has taken a long time to get his ideas across and the team gelling. For England there will be immediate pressure and having limited time with players on the grass hard to see him having the desired impact.

To be fair the "style" of play changed quickly when he arrived at Brighton. Results took a while, but I think that had more to do with the improvement in squad quality than anything Potter was doing in particular.

In other words, I think he could probably get us looking about as good as we're ever going to in a match against [checks fixtures] Finland, before we inevitably lose against Spain or whoever in a knockout match anyway.

I know. This is the 'wish list' thread, who do you want? Not 'expect' or 'settle for', but want. (The 'wish list' factor accounts for the popularity of Klopp even though we know he's a non-starter).

If Potter gets the job then fair enough, there are worse entries on that list (like Lampard and Gerrard who astoundingly have six votes between them), but I simply can't believe the number of people for whom he's their #1 choice.

I happen to think he’d be a massive upgrade on Southgate if you want to see England come out of the dark ages style wise, time might tell if he gets the job and the results to go deep in tournaments.

So wide of the mark, Potter can pick his own squad and not have it picked for him, he will pick the right personalities and balance, he is a winner and has had enough time to reflect on Chelsea.
He also knows what pressure is like. Maybe some are still just vindictive about him, he didn't hurt us at all, he just improved us by a country mile compared to the what Chris was capable of.

At Albion it took a while as he made a sea change in tactics on a very limited budget by PL standards whilst maintaining PL status, cracked it before he walked out. At Chelsea he arrived surrounded by underachieving prima donnas and had more players thrust on him than you could shake a stick at. As England manager he picks who he wants, any bad attitude and they are gone after one game.

If he has to start by only being allowed to pick young prospects and lower PL quality players no they wouldn’t but he will have the pick of English talent. It’s not even comparable to what he inherited and had to work with at the Albion.

However, haters will hate, luckily most England fans probably don’t feel the same as a decent proportion of Albion fans and most Chelsea fans……yet

You should get a job for the Daily Mail given the spin you've put on that quote. Hardly 'blaming' the crowd.

All part of the not particularly successful job of turning Graham Potter into some sort of demonic entity.

Bit like eternally bringing up the quote where he told people booing to get a grip as we were 8th in the PL in a club that has historically been shit from a sporting perspective. This is allegedly proof of Potters thin skin, rather than their own precious intolerence towards hearing anything other than "you're the best and perfectiest fans of all time".

Of course, Graham Potter learnt to have no illusions about English football fans intelligence vs. emotionality ratio and with that, he is almost certainly ready for when the angry librarians attending English football, international or national, sometimes interrupt into a cascade of expressing their deepest nature - the booing.

That said, I voted for Steven Gerrard. Any national team manager should represent the mentality and philosophy of a nation, in order to keep football diverse, interesting and connected to the roots of society. Graham Potter is better suited to the replace the Danish swindler in charge of the Swedish team.
