I'm in two minds. I'm naturally inclined to a young Englishman as I think it's important that they have a good bond with the players. However Southgate has done a great job generating the desire to pl;ay for England and therefore what we really now need is the icing on the cake of someone who is tactically more astute than Southgate. I think Klopp ticks that box very well so I'd not be adverse.

I'd probably list my favourites in this order:

Klopp
Howe (if he can not be smug about it)
Er, now struggling.

In a way Potter would be ideal (very much an FA man), but not sure he could cope with the pressure and I fear he is too Southgate like in his tactical approach.

We've made the mistake with uninterested high-profile foreign managers looking for an easy, high paid job to see them through to retirement too many times already.

Potter is absolutely Perfect for the role. He's got the hunger of Southgate to be successful, but unlike Southgate, he's actually a quality manager.

Klopp would be incredible but completely unrealistic. He's just left Liverpool because of pressure of work. Imagine the Sun headlines the first time we lose under a German.

It will be Potter, Lampard or Carsley. Of the three, no matter what I've written about Potter in our poorer seasons and when he left, I'd have him at least ten times before I looked at Lampard. Carsley would follow the FA succession plan but wouldn't inspire too many.

Klopp is good shout and I'd be all for it.

As for the English candidates I'd go for Potter his style of play more accurately reflects that of the player's week in week out play.

In that case I’ll have a Ferrari, a Rolex , a yacht, a private jet, a mansion in the country with an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub, steam room, sauna and cinema.

Potter really seems perfect for it.

Can't see Klopp being interested. It'll be Potter. Probably the best of the realistic options too.
