Who cares that Sussex CCC appear to be crap this year?

:nono: not me

Is it a big deal to you or is it just a sport to pass the summer months ?

Put it another way - if the Albion and Sussex CCC were playing BIG matches at the same time would any of you go to the cricket?

Both teams mean a the world to me. If there were two big games though the Albion would edge it.

When Sussex won the Championship last year it was like when we beat Swinners in the play offs but not quite like the feeling when we won the final if that gives you a guage of my feelings.

Maybe it's a Sussex pride thing for people born locally then, unlike the football team which seems to have been adopted by out of area people living in Brighton as well?

Any out of area born people who love the cricket club out there?

I was born in Edinburgh and moved to Brighton when I was 7. The first game i can remember going to was the Gillette Cup final in 1973 when we lost to Gloucs. I used to love going to the County Ground in my summer holidays and I was a very, very happy man when they won the Championship. I was gutted about not being there. If I had been I suspect I would have been as thrilled as I was when we won the play-off. Sussex have been so bad for so long it really was amazing to see them win last year. Unfortunately normal service has been resumed this year. I am used to Sussex doing badly. I do care but I am inured to it so I don't lose sleep over it. Although I live 500 miles away I do keep a keen interest in their fortunes and have done since I returned to the frozen North. Looking forward to seeing them next month in Edinburgh.

Me. By birth I'm a Surrey man and my Dad (despite living in Somerset) is mad keen Surrey fan - and Palace. Like supporting Brighton it just grew on me slowly the longer I lived in Sussex.

Just one year it would be nice that all the teams I support did well. Brighton and Sussex seem to be swapping good seasons at the moment

I was pleased when they won it last year but conversely, am not fussed about how badly they're doing this year.

A bit of a reverse on how I feel about, say, Gillingham. I tut if Gills win and I smile if they lose but that's about all I can muster.

Shame really as cricket looks like it could be quite fun.

My work colleague, who also has ginger hair, played in that match - for Sussex, obviously.

Was he that tall fastish bowler with glasses? the name Marshall springs to mind, but I could be wrong. My memory of him is coming in to bat at no. 11 in very murky light when the game was already well beyond us and being clean bowled.

It was a bad day for Sussex sport overall as whilst I was at Lords the Albion lost 2-0 at home to Bournemouth. It was the bext part of a week before I emerged from my depression.

Wherever The Mood Takes Me
I want them to do well as much as I want the Brighton Buccaneers Baseball team to do well. i.e. good for them if they win but couldnt give a fcuk if they lose, and i was born in brighton.

It's not in the same league as the Bears let alone The Albion.

Must admit I do. I get in a bad mood if The Albion or Sussex lose.
Have been very moody this summer but Cardiff was great!
The thing is that in Sussex we are used to having "nearly" teams. Both in footie and cricket we have at times been nearly top notch but never quite made it stick. Albion got to old Div 1; Cup Final both ended in tears. Sussex have won the Championship once and have won the 1 day Cup but cannot sustain success. That's the price we pay for living in the best county in the UK. God gave us the downs, the weald and sea but you cannot have everything. If you are in one of the big cities you get all the hassle of living but sporting success. Which would you rather have? I'll take Sussex by the Sea and put up with not having top sporting success.
