Honestly who thought we would be in the top 10 at the beginning of the season ?
I thought maybe around 16th at best.

I thought that we would be mid table but in all honesty I am a little disappointed with the final few weeks of the season and the results that we have achieved since Good Friday defeat at Burnley.

All this congratulations of " how well we have done " is getting ridiculous now. We have had an " ok " season, little more. Lets raise the bar a little and stop getting so excited about finishing mid table in the league. It's quite embarrassing frankly and away fans must be have a right old laugh at us. We have not over exceeded this season , we have done about what we should have. Mid table with the money we have spent and the new infastructure is average. Poyet is good but I am sure other managers could have done at least as well with the same resources. Is Bloom happy ? probably, at the moment, but people who say " I don't care if we don't go up for 4 seasons " have not invested millions of pounds. Bloom will not be happy with that. He wants us up next season.

If someone looked at our stadium and infastructure who did not know any better they would say " this is a premiership set up surely ? " Everything as of 6/8/11 was of premiership status, the only thing that was not , was our league status. We are not putting an extra 8000 seats in to fanny around in the championsip and mid table championship finishes will see the crowds reducing over time. Lets not be complacent and think mid table is such a massive achievement. It is not.

I must admit I tend to agree. Even before we'd got promoted last year I thought we were more than capable of mounting a play-off challenge this season, and 10th is maybe a place or two lower than where I thought we might end up. Consequently I've never understood those who said at the start of the season "Well I'll be happy just avoiding relegation." That's a bit like saying "Well I'll be happy just getting through the day without someone dropping a grand piano on my head."

Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT moaning and I've THOROUGHLY enjoyed this season which has been the best for decades, but in terms of achievement it's actually not as 'good' as that time we finished 20th in this division when we were a Noddy club playing at Withdean.

You are kevtherev and I claim my £5.
I couldn't disagree more. Who decided that, because we finally got decent facilities, that we have the right to win every game?
Nobody is laughing at us and even if they were, who gives a shit?
IMO. Anybody who thinks this season has been disappointing, comes across like a spoiled child. ( to be fair, there's not many surprises, when you look at the posters who are complaining.)
I am sure that the aim is for Premier league football but it doesn't have to be immediate. The championship is a great league, iwill just enjoy the ride until we get out of it.

It's neither ridiculous or embarrassing to have got to our highest position in 21 years considering we are only just starting to receive revenue worthy of our stadium. It's like a handicap race where we started 100 yards behind everyone else in a 400 yard race. Over the next few years we will be on a more level footing and then I would agree with you that 10th isn't a great deal.

The bookies had us to finish 15 points off the top
We finished 23 points behind the winner
Therefore our season was 8 points worse than forecast
Nb Saints also +15, were 12 better than predicted, Leicester/Hammers were off 0 so plenty worse than predicted
Statistics never lie (we're appointing 3 analysts as we speak to support this)

On reflection, 10th is a good place to finish with our team of mostly League One players. As with others I was disappointed with our end of season form. Our away record with 16 goals in 23 games (11 away games we failed to score) was the second worst in the division.

Bloom will be " satisfied " with this season no more. The set up is not only premiership football but champions league football. Those are the ambitions of this club.

You do realise that our maximum capacity is going to be just over 30K?

Had us at 8th. When I looked at the start of the season, I really didn't think there was that much in this division the West ham's and Birmingham's aside.

What has surprised me is the sheer physicality of this league and perhaps that's where we've come unstuck as we are quite a short team.

Personally I think next season will be tougher with some of the teams coming down. I don't anticipate that Leeds, Forest and Leicester will under-achieve as much given their squad and Middlesboro looked good.

However 10th is ok and the season as a whole has been fantastic.

We may only be starting to receive the revenue - but we certainly spent it. (Maybe before we got it?) Hoskins, CMS, Lua-Lua, wages for Vicente, etc etc. We never spent money like that the season we came up through the play-offs.

And ? I was told on the tour I went on that the club aspire to be playing in Europe and the set up is geared for that.

With 8 points from the last 10 games and some, shall we say, very bizarre team selections it's almost as though we " threw it " Bloom will want promotion next season.
