DWAYNE...hehehe

I've just read the book " A Profession of violence" The krays story and it is really quite surprising. They weren't half as big as people believed.
Everyone though they were loading but weren't. The Mcvitie murder, they just legged it and left their "Boys" or whatever you call em to clear the mess!! It was actually quite sad when you see their real side!! When The mental one (*ronnie I think) went to the US to see the Mafia this was all being watched by Scotland Yard!!

I would recommend this book, it's really interesting!!

What a stupid question. Shouldn't you being doing your school homework or perhaps something more productive this afternoon than posting crap threads like this? Just a thought :nono:

Iv read the up to date version of Me and my Brothers by Charlie Kray and Reggie Kray's autobiography and found them both really interesting. Problem with a lot of these books its all about opinions on who were the best gangsters around at that time rather than fact as you say Northstander. I did have a stage a couple of years ago when I was fascinated by the Krays but that has subsided now.

I would have to admit that all the books and tales about the Krays do make for interesting reading.

Having said that i get seriously pissed off with the misguided romanticism that gets attached to their activities. Lots of D list celebs think gangsters are cool and start bleating on about "they weren't bad lads and only hurt their own". Utter shite and clearly not endorsed by all the normal business people who were coughing up protection money.

The Krays were a couple of small minded vicious thugs. As far as it goes they've made far more money from the books about them thanfrom their criminal exploits. As far as gangsters go they were nothing but a pair of small time vicious thugs.

For 'proper' gangsters try La Costa Nosa (The Mafia), The Triads, The Yardies and worst of all (arguably) THe Russian Ogranisied crime gangs.

I Totally agree, this book clearly shows that, they keep going on about the East london Respect they had. What a load of balls, people were more worried about getting the face smashed in!!
