Which team(s) can we beat over a two-leg playoff semi?

Forest? Based on yesterday's performance by both teams, I would think a victory over two legs would be very tough. But, if we had Whing and Richards back in the squad maybe our chances would be a little better (not to take anything away from OGH's and Mayo's performances over the past two games). A real challenge.

Leeds? Better chance of victory (away draw, home win) than Forest.

Tranmere? We could beat them.

Southend? Ditto.

Doncaster? Another tough one, but probably a better chance than Forest.

Walsall? We could beat them over two legs.

So my choice ... anyone, but Forest in the semis (assuming of course that we get there).

Think we'd also struggle with Leeds...... if they played to form. Doncaster I wouldn't want either but Tranmere, Southend and Walsall are well within our reach.

I think you've got to look at the form teams and hope you avoid them. So on that basis, I'd say anyone but Carlisle or Southend.

And similarly, no other team is going to want to be matched up against a team in the playoffs that was 14th only 6 weeks ago.

Judging by our performances in the last play-offs we can beat absolutely anybody that gets put in front of us (despite playing SHITE for 95% of the time)

And there's a pretty good argument that it'd be good to play Forest as they're bound to bottle it, as it means so much to them (thanks to Tooting Gull for the theory).

They missed out in the playoffs last season and finished seventh the season before.

Anyway, I think we're indulging in a bit of pre-hatched chicken counting. It's fun, though.

Let's just hope we get there first of all

Seems to me, that's the hardest part of the whole thing. Hit that play-off spot and absolutely everything from there on in is an unexpected windfall for the club, whether it be in terms of additional season ticket renewals/sales, money-spinners arising from the additional home game and marketing tat, and, just possibly, an appearance at Wembley.

With our best team (Kuipers, Whing, Elphick, Lynch, Richards, Cox, Thomson, Racon, Westlake, Murray, Forster), I strongly believe we can beat any of those teams. There are many over-rated teams in this division, we are not one of them.

exactly. we sneaked into the playoffs those years ago and despite being a bit iffy we won. we have not had good record this season against any of the top 8 clubs, so we will be the underdogs, hopfully that might work in our favour some how.

We won't have Westlake for the playoffs, will we?

That is an interesting point. If he does go back, the loan window closes this Thursday doesnt it. If Leeds do not make the playoff, presumably we cant have him anyway!!!

Does the player have any say in the matter, anybody know? Cos he's scrapped like a good 'un for the Albion cause, and would be a massive addition to the run-in. At the same time, he's a million quid player on the books of one of our close rivals. On balance, I'd suspect we won't have use of his services for much longer. Top player tho, and total respect to the lad for his contribution
