I'll go with that. I'm not that keen on the pub itself, but their liver and bacon dish is pretty damn good.

The Ancient Mariner now have a cracking sausage and mash menu. It only actually consists of sausage and mash, but there are about 12 different types of sausage and posh mashes - and of course you can have the obligatory onion gravy/musy peas/beans too. Well worth 7 quid

I have never sampled the food in the C&A, so cant comment, but as you sayvmy locals food is nice.
