I'm not sure about Sam Vokes, I've seen him play more than a few times for Wolves. I don't think he is the 'get the ball down and pass it to Mackail-Smith' type player that we are after. I do like him though, and think he is a strong player at this level.

Jackson is a good call but I think there is as much chance of Charlton letting him go at the moment, as Bennett leaving us at this stage last season.

Jara Reyes if we can get him (he was in court today for his driving offence but no news this end) - currently playing for Baggies but will slip down the pecking order as players get fit. Can we afford his wages? Who knows - he may be prepared to take a lower salary/longer contract deal.
A full back so we can release either Hoskins or Barnes to play alongside CMS instead of having to play wide to cover the defence. Tavernier from Newcastle? Maybe

Signing Suggestion
So obviously we are in the middle of the transfer window and things aren't appearing to progress that fast (I'm sure behind the scenes they are) but its got me thinking about players that we could make good use of and might be feasible.
My suggestion would be a loan offer for Jay Bothroyd. Now hear me out:
- He's clearly not Premiership standard;
- He's under a new boss looking to make his mark;
- He's playing fairly often but Hughes will definately be looking at a far better calibre of striker (Bobby Z as an e.g.);
- He's succeeded at this level;
- We could possibly get away with paying only a portion of his wages.
Now I am only suggesting this as an option IF Hughes gets his more high profile targets.
I am aware that its a bit far fetched but could be a possibility and thought I'd provoke a discussion (and undoubted abuse) about something that isn't related to you-know-what.

I'm fairly sure he'll be on pretty decent Premier League wages can't see him willing to let go of 40k a week to come and sign for us and get 10k. It's not like he's been raking it in all his career anyway, the QPR contract is his big pay day and can't see him waving good bye to that TBH.

I want Habibou. I've wanted him in a Brighton shirt since I saw him throw the duck. On a serious note, he's not on the radar of other clubs, openly available to a loan-to-buy deal (so we don't have to shell out big money), is a unit, another nationality to tick off the list...why not? The way I see it, he's a low risk, high gain option. Even with our existing squad and no additions, we're not going up or down, so a guy with all the attributes to play alongside CMS on a six month loan, who Gus has openly said he's interested in...more intelligent IMO than shelling out bigger money for the likes of Bothroyd (who I agree however is proven at this level and would be good- but is finally getting a semi-regular punt at the Prem and is unlikely to want to drop a division).
