[Albion] Which players aren’t good enough for the Graham Potter revolution?

Exactly.

This place rolls between div 4 fans selling off the family silver to a 'big' club and expecting Brazil '70 performances from everybody.

There's quite possibly fans with a foot in both camps!

This indeed. I know we've had decades of crap and a different history to most other clubs in the FL - and lock down can't have helped but I think Brighton fans have gone a bit mental since football restarted again. From one extreme to the other.

I do question the logic behind calling Propper shit because he doesn't score or assist before going on to say Bissouma, who also doesn't score or assist, is better.

Propper has scored (1) and assisted (2) this season. If those metrics are all we're using to judge the efficacy of a midfielder he's on par with Ruben Neves (2 goals, 1 assist) so we should be pretty f**king happy really.

No the question at the top of this thread is:-

'I'm a mealy mouthed small minded tosspot who can't take any joy from the team I 'support', who wants to join me sticking the knife in?'.

I came away from that game almost buzzing like we'd won.
I certainly left feeling better than I have from games we have actually won.

The Albion, my Albion, gave Liverpool a fudging good run for their money.
They were hanging on in parts.
My team influenced their substitutions.
We scored a beautiful goal.
2 of their players should have been sent off, because they couldn't cope with the Albion.

The team was young, vibrant, attacking and positive.

At this point the likes of dwayne will chip in to call me delusional, again - so what I'm supposed to be, I'm a FAN, short for fanatic.

This thread is all that is wrong.
With the final whistle still ringing out we get:-

'Who's shite?'

Well I'll tell you who's shite:-

Norwich
palace.
Villa.
West Ham.
Burnley.
Southampton.
Tottenham.
Newcastle

and all the other teams that haven't laid a glove on Liverpool this season.
While the Albion have taken them to the wire twice.

I'm gonna post some pictures of flowers to cheer myself up!

While I agree with your sentiments wholeheartedly, I think through some misguided sense of loyalty to where I live that Southampton had Man City on toast the other day...... and no, I didn’t enjoy it, but Mrs DiS did.

:lolol: When Propper scored, 3 minutes after, he did exactly what he did last night. Great example thanks for reminding me.

Think it's far, far more likely that he will be joining PSV or Ajax, not for £10m but not that far off either considering the football world know of Ajax heavy wallet.

You are probably right on his destinations........come to think of it. Back to what is basically our championship but with a couple of big clubs.

I'll keep that in mind if I have to rehash the same sentiment after we've played the (amazingly) weaker than Liverpool, Man City, at the weekend.

Good thread. So here is my list of players who should be looked at whether they’re up for the next level and reasons

Ryan- keep but needs to improve distribution and command of area. Position now under threat from Walton
Button/Steele- don’t need with keepers we have coming through
Montoya / Schelotto- would me minded keep Schelotto if he was happy to play back up to Lamptey
Duffy- back up/loan
Stephens- no longer good enough
Kayal- as with dale
March- never good enough for EPL
Ali j keep as back up
Connolly - send on loan to championship will be good enough
Muzza- to be used sparingly
Alzate - loan out to EFL with Connolly
Gyokeres- sell
Sanders - loan

We have enough quality coming through the youth team now to start using them. Roberts, Baluta, Yapi, Jenks, Ostigard, Richards & others all need to be given chances or moved on loan or perms.

Don’t agree with those saying Propper not strong enough. Dutch international still being played out of position.

Worldie saves !! does anyone over the age of 15 really use the word worldie in a debate !

I learned the word from my 14 yeard old son, I'd like to publicly apologies for using it here the other day with reference to AK's winner vs Palarse last season. I should have said top bins or pearler or net buster or something

I can see Duffy and Stephens moving on as the squad devlops as we could get good returns for them, natural evolution. I wouldn't be getting rid of anyone else in a hurry, we still don't really have a best starting 11!

As far as the youngsters coming through, I would expect:

Connolly, Alzate, Lamptey, Ally Mac, White and Molumby will be in the first team squad next season.

One of Clarke and Ostigard may come into the squad as backup CB if Duffy is sold. I suspect Clarke is more likely.

Maybe Gyokeres could come in as fourth choice striker, but we still need a new one in in any case. He looks decent enough but being up to PL standard is another level.

Walton is more likely than Sanchez to be brought in as backup goalie. I don’t think either are consistent enough to displace Ryan.

Sanders, Sanchez, Ostigard, Yapi, Richards, Cochrane, Gwargis, Roberts and Jenks are those likeliest to find themselves on loan I would think.

As far as the seniors, Stephens may go this summer so we get a fee. Duffy too. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Bernardo head back to Germany. Jahanbakhsh back to Holland. Schelotto released but Montoya stays as backup. The likes of Gross and Pröpper will stay with us.

For those wanting rid of Propper, sorry to disappoint but he signed a new contract in in Feb. He's not going anywhere.
And nor should he.

We will be shipping out a lot less players than the coach loads suggested on this thread.

The likeliest to go :

a) Those out of contract : Kayal, Schelotto

b) Those who are hardly picked : Jahanbakhsh, Duffy, Steele.

c) Those with just 1 year left on their contracts : Murray, Stephens, Izquierdo ( depending on injury situation ), Steele ( see (b) as well), Button. [Walton also has 1 year left, probably will be extended].

I don't want rid of Propper, we still need a squad,

I just want an upgrade who will start ahead of him if fit

Agree with all of that. I think people really are deluding themselves if they think there are going to be big changes in the summer.

On top of Schelotto and Kayal, one of the back up keepers will go to make way for Walton in the squad. A centre back will go (probably Duffy due to him not fitting Potter's style) as we have plenty of options there. Jahanbakhsh is likely also to make way for another attacker. Murray and Stephens are possibilities and it will be interesting to see what happens with Izquierdo.

The only possible departures outside that are if someone like Montoya or Bernardo pushed to leave to get more first team football but I hope that doesn't happen.

People seem to think No 10 as he played there once for Holland and scored twice about 3 years ago.

He is not a No 10

I'd want him as far away from the opponent's box as possible from my experience of watching him.

However then you get what happened last night and against Man U.

There is no way a player of Propper's quality, whatever you might think of him, will stay and be a reserve at Brighton. He had Ajax interested in him not too long ago

Teams are apparently "intersted" in players all the time, Means nothing unless they bid.

I like Alzate, I think once he's fully fit you'll see more of him in the middle.
