Which division should we be competing in?

Which division should we be competing in a new 22,000 seat stadium?

Following on from the earlier poll about which division we should be competing in while we're at Withdean, where do you think our natural position in football's order should be once we've settled into a 22,000 seat stadium?

Natural positions no longer exist in modern football. Manafactured positions do.

True to an extent, but even the manufactured positions derive from an investor's perception of a club's potential given their capital investment.

I've always thought that the Albion's natural position should be in the top-half of the second tier, occasionally making the top tier, occasionally dropping into the 3rd tier, but generally being a competitive force and capable of decent Cup runs etc etc

A team finishes where they do naturally without becoming a bussiness, rather than a club.

A team's position is now manafactured by the amount of money they have.

But that is always how it has happened.

I think a lot of it depends where you are. The most sucessful teams in the UK are based around large cities, Liverpool Manchester London Glasgow, where you get larger crowds and hense bigger ground to fit themin....leads to more money to buy better players.......the Arabs and Americans are not buying small clubs outside these cities......

because Brighton is in the middle of nowhere. :D We're only a puny town of around half a million. I'd say Falmer is championship class.

All clubs (yes, even ours) are businesses, they couldn't function otherwise. in response to the question, Championship or possibly the lower ends of the Premiership would do nicely.

It has always happend, but not to anywhere near the extent it happens now. And the gap gets larger every week.

Wigan, Stoke, Blackburn, Portsmouth and Bolton, etc are hardly much bigger cities than ours, they just got lucky, and arrived in the Premier League as the money began pouring in, if Falmer had been ready 7/8 years ago we could well be in their position.

With this squad and stadium? League One

With a better squad and Falmer? Championship

Ive always thought that with Falmer we would be more like Ipswich than any other team currently in the championship.
Flirt with the play-offs every couple of seasons, they are currently 17th in the table.
