With the news of a severe shortage of large butterball turkeys and prices rocketing which bird will you be roasting this Christmas time??

There seems to be a shortage of Turkeys reported every year. Still I bet in the week leading up to Xmas you won't be able to get into a supermarket for stacks of the tasteless monstrosities.

There's this young blonde two doors down that I'll be filling with Paxo hopefully.

It is a euphemism right?

you know: Roast = Pork?
Bird = Young Female?

No roasting here -- turkey goes on the grill, with applewood chuncks. Come rain. come shine... That's a couple of Thanksgivings ago, but it does for Christmas too.
I'm dying to do a goose, but they're dear here in the US. Roasting geese is a foodie/hipster exotic.

Duck, it is LOVELY. In fact ASDA have Duck Legs for the bargain price of £2 at the moment - im already stocked up !!

Gammon as well......other birds depend on what happens on New Years Eve.

A Turkey crown for me, I can't be doing with all the legs and wing bits. However, I only ever once had a pre-basted Butterball Turkey, it was awful, loads of yellowish fat oozed out of the poor thing and rendered the meat slimy, never again.

Turkey.
Don't call it winterval. It's Christmas simple as that.

Quite - if I recall correctly, it was a crappy PC term adopted by Birmingham City Council (+ maybe others) in about 1997/98 (it was whenever Villa had a cracking start to the season under John Gregory), then it fell out of fashion very quickly. Why use the sh|te term still?
