Although saying that, were are the likes of Ryan Palmer, Darren Freeman and Jamie Campbell now?
sams dad said:Plymouth have just signed Scott Taylor from Blackpool for £100000 so we now have the cheapest squad.

Yorkie said:Leon was signed on a free but with the proviso that we paid £100K if we got promoted. So that is where some of the playoff money went.
bhaexpress said:And just how big is Cardiff's debt these days? What are you going to do when Ayotollah Hamman realises that you don't have a chance of being a Premier League club? Cardiff City, the new MK Dons?
fatboy said:In the words of the Insider, Leon Knight was signed for free, with a nominal payment if we got promoted. This payment was not £100,000.
Yorkie said:Blimey, Plymouth are cheaper than us.
The Laughing Bluebird said:How come the fee is listed as £100,000 in all officially FA-endorsed publications if it was 'nominal'?
TD said:PLYMOUTH ARGYLE - £155,000
BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION - £131,000
Did you attend any maths classes?
The Laughing Bluebird said:Well spotted!
He didn't show up in the search I conducted because he hasn't made an appearance for them yet and hasn't been allocated a squad number either. I've amended the original post now to reflect the fact that Brighton do indeed have the cheapest team in the Championship.

The Laughing Bluebird said:Maybe, but it seems strange that the official publications would list a fee if there wasn't one. The PFA Factfile says that QPR made an immediate bid for him after he'd scored twice for Albion against them, but Brighton tied him up on a premanent deal shortly afterwards.
It would be a bit odd for Chelsea to turn down a concrete cash bid from QPR but allow Brighton to sign Knight on a free if they didn't get promoted.
fatboy said:The Insider says it was a nominal fee but not £100,000, implying that we did pay something but it wasn't as much as £100,000. The QPR bid might not have included a sell on fee and, in any case, Chelsea are hardly going to miss £100k.
