Indeed. When I was growing up (70s) it was widely used, especially by people who liked other sports like rugby. I didn’t know any posh people so nothing to do with class. Aussies I know all also call it soccer because they have their own football. There’s no such thing as a posh Aussie.
Quite.

Unfortunately caught the Sky transfer show tonight while bathing in the Oval scenes - f*** me… “No Talks Currently” but Caicedo has indicated he wants to join Chelsea and they will be back with another offer before the deadline. Then a few minutes of why he’s vital to Chelsea and how he’ll fit in with Enzo. Not a mention of OUR position or motives for holding onto OUR player as we take on our debut season in Europe.

But the transfer show is normally full of voices for the Big 6, the Brummie in particular bloody hell he's annoying

If they sign Vlahovic it just makes you want to give up. It's just cheating. Having this much money is just not right.

His valuation has risen somewhat this evening.

The cliche of Enzo and Caicedo dovetailing perfectly has been churned out in the media for the last few months. It’s obvious to anyone who watches football, a DM and an ACM. Was always the way.

Sky mention it yet again, and dress it up as new news.

Meaning … they have none.

I recall loads saying they wouldn’t be able to spend this summer. In a bent industry, they were always going to spend big yet again.

7 clubs are desperate for CL football 2024/25, where UEFA are upping the pay outs, whilst there’s a FFP tightening. Boehly from day one has been all about a vast and endless spend to get in just in time.

SSN's transfer reports are all a part of the transfer rumour ecosystem. It's regularly nothing new presented in a different way to feel like an update to fill air time, with the added "interest" of having a variety of guests who can all give their opinions on 'ongoing' transfer deals with a strong bias toward teams with bigger fan bases and thus more likely to tune in or click their links or interact with their socials. Anyone expecting anything more is wasting their time.

Having said that, the few times I've caught them discussing Caicedo's potential move to Chelsea, I've been pleasantly surprised to not see anyone suggesting we're wrong to view him as worth a Declan Rise-type fee. Whether it be because the way the market has gone and the growth of fees that has been turbo-charged by the saudi league joining the market, or a face value comparison of players, it seems no one thinks Brighton are being unreasonable in their fee expectations.

I think it was either Tony Bloom or Paul Barber said that we would not sell a player especially for big money if we needed to then go a find a replacement as it would be difficult and expensive as it would be known we have a big wedge and where desperate.

If you look at who has left and who has come in that seems to have always been the case, whether we knew it at the time or not.

RDZ has already said to TB there would be a big Moises shaped hole in the squad if he leaves.

So I think that unless we have a DMF waiting in the wings, Moises is not going anywhere.

That is my guess anyway,

Amazing. Nearly two months on from this article and not a great deal has happened. Despite all the agent-botherers doing all their best to remind us how advanced the talks are, updating us on every time Moises and his team breathe and posting ridiculously photoshopped images of Caicedo in Arsenal and Chelsea shirts.

What HAS happened is that the part from the seemingly ITK line in that piece that states 'But FootballTransfers exclusively revealed last week that the Ecuadorian will cost between £70-80 million in this window' looks like it has been confined to the bowels of football transfer history!
