Where did it all go wrong?? They hold the balance of power and will be able to influence government policy and electoral reform. This is the best outcome for the Liberals for almost 100 years.

For the first time in almost 30 years the right-wing press took them seriously and did a hatchet job. Given the Tories were due to bounce back they've done well to increase their share of the vote by 1%.

And who knows how this performance might be viewed in 4 / 5 years time? Possibly an opportunity missed by the voters.

The fact is they won the Chancellors Debate and 1, maybe 2, of the PM Debates. Clegg was gaffe-free throughout. And if their policies really don't stand up to scrutiny how come Labour politicians are falling over themselves to suggest how suitable a coalition might actually be?

im reminded of what my missus said a couple of weeks ago. Its like strictly come dancing, the public loved John Sargent and voted for him each week because he was nice and they liked him; but when it came to the hard chioce at the end they voted for the serious competitors. Clegg is the political Sargent (without the laughs), likable but not taken too seriously when the votings really mattered
