normally i have a couple of beers then get the train but i have to be at a comedy show at the dome for an 8pm start. im in west upper and think if i get the train im not gonna make it and i dont fancy getting hammered by he comedian for turning up late. of course i can leave ten minutes early but i dont like doing that so is there any where i can be picked up from that i can quickly jump in the car and head to brighton without getting caught in traffic?

The R bar, Dr Brightons, Spotted Dog (it's called that again now ) or old favs like whatever the Pink Coconut or The Suite are called now. If you get really desperate Old Stiene toilets.

I've been picked up from the bus stops on the a27 outside the station a couple of times, works perfect.

nope, always fine, as long as your there before your lift turns up. Either that or just get your lift to pull into the entrance for the station, jump in and away before anyone has even noticed! The ONLY sensible way to get away imo.

Dannyboy- I have exactly the same issue, I am going to Reginald D Hunter which starts at 8 with one other fan. Maybe all 3 of us could share a taxi?

Yeah I think I've been picked up from there with no problems, is it station rd? (the one with the burger van in it)

If you don't mind a short walk away from the ground (click on the image to enlarge it):

Drop off points.jpg

1 - by the hiker's rest
2 - Barcombe Road
3 - End of Lucraft Road (wouldn't recommend driving along there as there's only room for a single line of traffic, which is sharing the road with hundreds of people, and the residents aren't overly fond of the extra traffic)
4 - Little inlay off the a27, by the junction at the entrance to stanmer park, a bridge leads to the path at the bottom of BACA (formerly falmer high school)

We are West Upper too. Never done it before, I may phone taxi firm and see what they suggest. I think trying to get a train and be at The Dome for 8 is pushing it.

Ok, Just spoke to Streamline Taxis. You cannot pre-book at Taxi for the Amex, they only do this 45 mins after kick off. There are however some unbooked Taxis already at the Falmer station to hop in.

So, I am going to see how busy the train is, if it is heaving then I will jump in a cab.
