When will the blind optimism for next season start?

How are we going to be able to afford, and attract, quality players who presumably will have plenty of other attractive offers.

Like Bournemouth?

Boruc - on loan from Southampton
Smith - undisclosed from Tottenham
Elphick - undisclosed from Brighton
Cook - £150K from Brighton
Daniels - £198K from Orient
Ritchie - £500K from Swindon
Arter - £4K from Woking
Surman - £500K from Norwich
Pugh - £100K from Hereford
Kermorgant - undisclosed Charlton
Wilson - £3M - from Coventry (at least partly paid for by the Grabban transfer)

(plus of course, an exceptional manager!)

I will start to be optimistic when we sign at least one striker (preferably two) who:

1. I have heard of
2. Has some pedigree in the English game
3. Has been banging in goals for fun at his previous club(s)

Until then? Me-h.

When the pre season friendlies are announced against Worthing and burgess hill and lewes and Horsham and we win handsomely. Then the " we will piss this division" threads will start.

My prediction before any new players are signed is that the Albion will finish 17th to 21st in the championship but will not be relegated. Mark these words. No reason for optimism until this owner and board prove they have different goals.

Last day of April 2015

How did I know this?

Unless we sign 5-7 players of good or exceptional quality, I'll see no reason to be optimistic about next season.

Is the right answer...

What goals does the owner and the board have in your view ?
I always thought they were getting promoted . Whats your take ?

I feel it's to keep as much money as possible but stay in the championship. They are currently using the loyalty of a fan group to forward their personal goals. When the Albion finish in the lower half of the championship again you will understand.

I started being optimistic for next season as soon as I realised we weren't going to get promoted this season :)

What are the personal goals? Turning a staggering profit? The club doesn't break even.
Performance bonuses -- even if the club doesn't perform (playoffs, promotion...)
And who is the person with these personal goals? Darth Vader? Paul Barber?

Rank paranioa.
