Before I get totally slated I'm a 39 year old who was too young to enjoy our time in the first division & the 83 cup final.

I have supported the Albion all my life & cannot remember times like this.
Since we moved into our fantastic new stadium we have increased our fanbase from 7000 to 26000.
Every game we play we believe we can win.
In the space of 18 months we have played

Liverpool x2
Newcastle x2
Sunderland
Arsenal/Swansea

If you read the threads on NSC most of them are negative about what the club are doing wrong or what they are unhappy about & I am as guilty of that as anybody.

Should we not just enjoy being a Brighton fan after everything we have been through over the last 20 years.

My Albion glass is always 3/4 full.

If Vicente comes off the bench tomorrow and Ulloa scores 3 at Birmingham my glass will be full.

I'm the same age as you but remember the cup final run as the best time to be supporting Brighton. That game v Weds at Highbury was amazing

Only time will tell but at the moment supporting the Albion is getting as good as it was for me when I first went to the Albion 74-75 season right up to 83 those 9 years were a golden era of promotion after promotion then our only stint ever in league 1 (prem) and onto the cup final at wembley which funny enough was the end of that era
30 years on a new Dawn is upon us well for me personally it started the day gus walked through the door already one promotion a new stadium on the brink of 30,000 crowds again and the prem beckoning
Yes good times all round :)

I do remember that cup run but that coincided with us being bottom of the league & subsequently being relegated & very nearly liquidated.

Let's hope history dosent repeat itself

Over there
I'm 40 and even though I remember watching live updates on grandstand from our division 1 games and watched the f.a cup final on the box, I wasn't taken to see the Albion until we played (and beat) palace in 84.
since I've been going to games this is defo the best of times.
A magnificent sell out stadium, a great young manager being given large sums of money by a fantastic young chairman to buy million pound players, who play a fantastic style of football (most of the time) and are on the brink of the prem?
Oh go on then.

Super post. My memories at 44, really does encompass lows and (nearly) highs.

What highlighted this for me was sitting in my seat at the Amex while we were beating Newcastle (1.0 at the time) & the attendance was announced on the big screen 21000 & I thought thats shit.

If beating a premier league team in front of 21000 fans is shit how spoilt are we.

how spoilt are we.

I think that's the crux of a lot of people's whinging - the fact that we really have been spoilt over the past 24 months or so. People feel like brilliance is somehow owed to us, or expected and they get pissy if they get anything less.

Personally, i really love it at the moment. Having a lot of Arsenal/Chelsea/Man Utd supporting friends coming up to me and saying 'I saw how you guys did at the weekend/you played well/crap recently' - people actually noticing us as a club. No, it isn't perfect and yes we could all change things if we had the opportunity but we don't, so i'm going to enjoy us being on the cusp of something great and hope that the good times continue.

Since when was a clubs fan base limited to the capacity of the ground that they play in,do you realy think Arsenals fan base is 60,000

I think some people are worried about history repeating itself and the whole thing coming crashing down around our ears. I understand this view but these are different times and the whole profile of the game has changed and we're now providing, IMO, one of the best team supporting and match day experiences in the country, certainly in our division. So these are definitely the best times for supporting the Albion in the club's history and its going to get better still. Thank you Tony, Gus and Dick.

Give us 10 years at this level & the back to back to back title achievement (first for 20 years & none since) with Zamora scoring 10 games running & topping the GS charts by 7, home record 19-2-2 & 17-5-1 might gain more recognition
It's not all about a nice ground & pies

I will have to go back to the early 80s when my dad used to take me in the east stand of the goldstone. Standing on milk crates back then was not against health and safety rules either. Its been a long time. We have absolutely nothing to moan about. Get behind the team.

For me, The Amex era has not (yet) eclipsed '77 to '79. 2 promotions in 3 seasons up to the Top Division, and only just missed out the year in between. Wardy in full flight, loads of other great players.

Hit form for the 2nd half of the Season with Vicente running rings around teams, and it might just be the best ever!

For me it is the best as i am of similar age-

the Golden years were 1976-1983-

The future could hold many things and perhaps the best is yet to come-
