I like my Tea to be more of a 'Elliot Bennett' so I go bag & sugar-water-milk. Coffee on the other hand is more of a 'chick-it-all-in-and-see' approach.

The trick for a nice smooth, non-watery, cup of tea - milk in first.

What's your technique?

Teabag - Milk - Sugar - Water.

Then some manual straining (using the back of the teaspoon) in order to achieve desired hue.

= Best cup-o-tea ever.

Milk in with bag before water is the same as: toast, marmalade on top, waiting for the bread to cool, and then apply a big splodge of butter. Illogically yuckety.

The tea is "designed" and the flavour percolates best with boiling water. I always used to put the milk in first but after the error of my ways was pointed out to me, the tea has always been better. Putting the milk in first reduces (assuming it is cold milk) the water temperature and hence the tea flavour. Now, it is your choice!

..............the Mrs puts the milk in before the water, takes me bloody ages to get the 'right colour'

Totally pointless observation i know but anyone else suffer with this?

Water if tea bag, milk if from teapot.

THATS THE LAW, FACT

Correct -something to do with the fat from the milk blocks the teabag holes up, so not releasing full flavour.

This makes perfect sense. Plus the fact it also takes about half an hour to make the sodding think by which point you either don't fancy it anymore or its so cold you have to boil the kettle again!

I'm with the throngs here: teabag-sugar (none for me, ta)-water-milk.

If someone makes me tea with milk before water, they can expect my rage.
