If you bought 2 packs of asparagus they'd charge you £3 as opposed to the £2 its actually worth? Strange deal...

I wonder how many people fall for it. Do you think these things are genuine mistakes? I am not so sure, personally. The best one I have seen here was for Oven Chips - huge sign saying 2kg for R45. Marvellous I thought, until I saw that 1kg bags were R20 each. Also, our local Spar is well known for having one price on the shelf and having a higher price at the till. Very few people notice.

Isn't that illegal? I was under the impression that if a product was advertised at price 'x' it has to be sold at that price irrespective of what the till says when the barcode is read?

Oh, and I just tested the offer I originally posted, and if I buy 2, the offer is automatically applied so you can't buy 2 for £2. How wrong is that!

I tell you what I'm getting f*cked of with is the amount of times I've bought stuff on offer in the coop in Shoreham only to find I've be charged full price. Shocking. Sort it out Coop you numpties!

Yes, it is illegal and they should sell it at the advertised price, but as with most if not all supermarkets, individual items are not priced. So how many people notice and remember the advertised price once they get to the till, especially when they have a trolley load of stuff?

I reckon it happens all the time in all supermarkets and they get away with it most of the time.

Changing the sell by date on perishable goods is illegal as well, but that does not stop our Spar from doing that either. I now break the clingfilm and sniff anything perishable if it is wrapped up. We have complained numerous times but they dont appear to be bothered. Go to another shop I hear you say - we do try but the nearest supermarket is 45kms away!!

Some online store was selling laptops when I was at University, and our lecturer sent an email out that they had left a 0 off the price. I was too slow to get one, but they honoured all the purchases made.

The co-op in Peacehaven are shitting themselves at the moment. They have suddenly become the most helpful store in the area. People packing your bags for you, good morning, good afternoon, it never used to be like that, why?
Well a Sainsbury's mini store is opening up along the South Coast Road. On top of this a new Lidl has just opened in Newhaven. Then there is also Sainsbury's superstore in Newhaven, plus there are plans for a new ASDA.

I think this might spell the end for the co-op in Peacehaven and also the Sommerfield in Newhaven. Feel sorry for the people working in there. However the co-op have been in the Meridian Centre for years and it was only two years ago they decided to have a refit and bring it up to the same standards of Sainsburys in Newhaven. It even has coffee shop, but I think the refit was a bit too late.

KZNSeagull is not purchasing goods in this country (it's priced in Rand) and therefore our sale of goods act etc does not apply.

Brilliant one today.

Mrs McCann has written a book surrounding the events since her daughters disappearance, anyway, The Sun are serialising it and offer their readers the chance to save £2 by buying direct from them at £18 plus free P&P. A quick hop over to Amazon and the book is available for £9 plus free P&P!

Couldn't you buy one with the rest of your shopping and once the receipt has been given to you buy the second? Might mean joining the back of the queue I guess, so not worth the bother!

A shop doesn't have to sell something that is underpriced, they can withdraw the item from sale for a limited period of time (possibly for just a few minutes before putting it back on sale at the correct higher price.)

It is upto the retailer if they decide to honour that lower price or not as an attempt at trying to keep the customer happy and to return to shop there again.

The reason they can withdraw it from sale rather than be forced to sell it could be to protect their business, ie - If someone faked a price ticket and placed it on display giving a false low price, the shop shouldn't have to sell it for that price, there are often occasions where people have picked the price ticket of one item and transferred it to a more expensive item trying to get it at a knock down price.
